RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN APPRECIATION
AND COMMENDATION OF THE JUNIOR COLLEGE S TE STUDY COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, keen interest in establishing a Junior College in the City of Alameda had been
generated in recent months and many residents of the City had expressed the belief that it would be
beneficial to the economy of the City and present advantages which would encourage the youth of the
community to fulfill their need for higher education; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda decided to seek the assistance of earnest citi-
zens of the community in its endeavor to determine upon a suitable location for an Alameda Campus for
the Peralta College District; and
WHEREAS, twenty citizens representing all areas and interests of the City were therefore
appointed to serve as the Junior College Site Study Committee; and
WHEREAS, the members of said Committee immediately and diligently pursued the task assigned
and gave unselfishly of their time and effort in the physical inspection and study of all pertinent
data relating to several parcels of land in order that the Committee might be able to submit a recom-
mendation on a specific locale which would be acceptable from all aspects and could be supported by
the favorable vote of the people.
NOW, THEREFORE, DE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Alameda recognizes with
gratitude the eager willingness of these citizens to serve in this civic undertaking and the sincere
desire on the part of each member of this Committee to perform his full share in this endeavor.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda acknowledges with true
appreciation that the successful conclusion to this enterprise was due in great measure to the fore-
sight and efficient work of these Committeemen as embodied in their sound recommendation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda hereby officially dismisses
this Committee with thanks and commends its members for a job well done on behalf of the culture of
the City of Alameda.

16th day of November, 1965, by the following vote, to wit:
