AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING
SECTION 17-333 THEREOF TO PROHIBIT PARKING ON
EIGHTH STREET AND WESTLINE DRIVE FROM APRIL 1ST
THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30TH
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Alameda
Section 1. The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended
by adding Subsection (159) thereof to read:
Sec. 17-333. All Time and Limited No Parking.
(159) West side of Eighth Street and Westline Drive from
upper Washington Park (at intersection with
Portola Avenue) to the beginning of the curb
return at Otis Drive, and east side of Eighth
Street and Westline Drive from Portola Avenue
south to the northerly curb of Otis Drive, no
stopping, parking, or standing between the hours
of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays,
Sundays, and holidays from April 1st to September
30th.
Section 2. This ordinance is one of great necessity and
urgency within the meaning of Section 3-12 of the City Charter, is
introduced and passed at the same Council meeting and shall become
effective on June 22, 1988.
Section 3. The facts constituting the necessity and urgency
hereof are:
1. That traffic regulations are essential for the orderly
flow and control of traffic within the City.
2. That such regulations should necessarily be immediately
effective on passage to insure that maximum preservation of public
welfare is obtained.
3. That a potential health and safety problem will exist if
such amendments are not immediately effective.
4. That, in light of such potential health and safety
problems involved, the normal delay between enactment of this
ordinance and its effective date would be injurious.

5. This Council hereby finds, determines and declares that
it is in the best interests and necessity that this ordinance be
introduced and passed at the regular meeting of the City Council
held June 21, 1988, and that this ordinance become and be in full
force and effect June 22, 1988.
