AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING
TITLE XVIII, CHAPTER 3, SECTION 18-311 THEREOF
RELATING TO DEFACEMENT OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND
OTHER PROPERTY
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Alameda
Section 1. The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended
by amending Section 18-311 thereof to read:
Sec. 18-311. Defacement of Public Buildings
and Other Property. It shall be unlawful for any
person, in the City of Alameda, to write, stamp,
affix, mark or attach any inscription, name, picture,
number, or other thing upon any wall, tower, or other
part of any building owned or controlled by the City
of Alameda, or upon any fence surrounding or any
approach to such building or upon any electrolier,
pole, mast or part thereof, including crossbars,
supports and guywires, used for the transmission of
electricity, lighting, flags or traffic control,
owned or controlled by the City of Alameda, or upon
any tree or parking meter owned by the City of
Alameda, or upon any street, sidewalk, curb and
gutter within the public right-of-way. Provided,
that this section shall not apply to acts of
mechanics duly authorized to perform work upon any
public building or other property.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after the expiration of thirty (30) days from the
date of its final passage.

the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 2nd day of August, 1988,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Camicia, Haugner, Monsef,
and President Corica - 4.
NOES: Councilmember Thomas - 1.
ABSENT: None.
