ORDINANCE No. 559
NEW SERIES
AMENDING SEC. 2-533 OF THE MUNIC-
IPAL CODE RELATING TO THE AB-
SENCE FROM DUTY OF SALARIED
OFFICIALS OR EMPLOYEES INJURED OR
DISABLED IN THE COURSE OF THEIR
EMPLOYMENT, AND PROVIDING FOR
THEIR COMPENSATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA _as follows:
Section 1. Section 2-533 of the Ala-
meda Municipal Code is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Sec. 2-533. Injury or disability in line
of duty. Any officer or employee of the,
Police or Fire Departments who sustains
any injury or disability arising out of and
in the course of his employment with the
city, and by reason thereof becomes en-
titled to receive compensation under the
provisions of the Workmen's Compensa-
tion Insurance and Safety Act of the State
of California, or other state law, or any
ordinance of the city, shall be entitled to
remain absent from duty, and to receive
from the city, for each separate injury or
disability, while such injury or disability
continues, but for not more than one year,
a sum equal to the difference between the
amount of his salary and the amount of
compensation allowed him under such act,
law or city ordinance.
Any officer or employee of the city,
other than those of the Police or Fire
Departments, who sustains any injury or
disabilily arising out of and in the course
of his employment with the city, and by
reason thereof becomes entitled to receive
compensation under the provisions of said
act, or other state law, or city ordinance,
shall be entitled to remain absent from
duty and to receive from the city for each
separate injury or disability, while such in-
jury or disability continues, but for not
more than ninety <90) working days dur-
ing any twelve < 12) month period, a sum
equal to the difference between the amount
of his salary and the amount of compensa-
tion allowed him under such act, law, or
city ordinance.
This ordinance shall not o.ffect in any
manner any of the provisions of Ordinance
No. 503 N. S., relating to pensions for
officers and employees of the Police and
Fire Departments.

ABSENT: Councilman Morris, ( 1).
