AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 642 N.S. (CIVIL SERVICE
ORDINANCE) BY AMENDING SUBSECTION (a) OF SECTION 14
THEREOF RELATING TO LEAVES OF ABSENCE FROM CIVIL
SERVICE POSITIONS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 642 N.S. is hereby amended
by amending subsection (a) of Section 14 thereof to read:
(a) To grant leaves of absence from positions in
the Civil Service for the sole purpose of enabling
employees to occupy non-Civil Service offices or
positions under the jurisdiction of the City of Alameda.
That such leave shall be granted for a period of time
not to exceed one year from date of Board approval. The
position from which such leave has been granted may be
filled in the same manner as though a vacancy existed
therein, except that the tenure of such position shall
be subject to the terms of such leave of absence, and
shall terminate in the event that the person granted
the absence shall, during the period of approved leave,
return to such position.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after the expiration of thirty (30) days from
the date of its final passage.
