AMENDING THE ALAEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING
SUBSECTION 5-4.1 (t. 1) (TELEVISION SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE)
OF SECTION 5-4 (LICENSE FEES), CHAPTER V (LICENSES AND
PERMITS) SPECIFYING THAT ALL TELECOMMUNICATIONS
PROVIDERS ARE SUBJECT TO THE BUSINESS LICENSE
REQUIREMENTS AND REPEALING SUBSECTION 5-5.8 (FRANCHISEE)
OF SECTION 5-5 (EXEMPTIONS), THEREOF
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the city of Alamedathat:
Section 1 The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended
by amending Subsection 5-4.1 (t.1) (Television Subscription Service)of section 5-4 (License Fees), Chapter V (Licenses and Permits), toread:
5-4.1 Established.
Alphabetical Listing for
TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES:1. Telecommunication services shall include all
providers of telephone , video , cable television cellular phone including, but not limited to , providers of communication servicesthat utilize broadband networks referred to as the informationsuperhighway.2. Every person providing telecommunication servicesincluding, but not limited to , television subscription service
business shall pay an annual license fee of forty ($0.40) cents perone thousand ($1 000.00) dollars of gross receipts.
Section 2 The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amendedby repealing Subsection 5-5.(Franchisee) of Section 5-5
(Exemptions) Chapter V (Licenses and Permits) in its entirety.
Section This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after the expiration of thirty (30) days from thedate of its f ina 1 passage.
