AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING
SUBSECTION 13-25. 1 (b) OF ARTICLE VII (NUMBERIG OF BUILDINGS),
CHATER XIII (BUILDING AN HOUSING) AN ADDING SUBSECTION 13-
25.1(f) TO PROVIDE NEW POLICIES AN PROCEDURS FOR NUBERIG
AVENUS AND COURTS RUNING IN THE EASTERLY AND WESTERLY
DIRECTION WEST OF MAI STREET (ADOPTED AS AN URGENCY
MEASURE UNDER SECTION 3-12 OF THE CITY CHARTER)
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Alameda that:
Section 1.
and declare that:
The City Council of the City of Alameda does hereby find, determine
(a) There is curently no street and block numbering system at Alameda Point
(Naval Air Station , Alameda), and buildings are known by building number only.; and
(b) It is necessar to create a block numbering system at Alameda Point fo
addressing buildings prior to the end of the Navy emergency services and postal services Q1
April 27 , 1997; and
(c) Protection of the public health , safety and welfare of the citizens requires t
immediate modification of existing City ordinances to ensure adequate modem emergency respons Oi
and postal services for the approved interim uses at Alameda Point.
Section 2 Alameda Muncipal Code Subsection 13-25.1(b) of Aricle VII
(Numberig of Buildings) of Chapter XIII (Building and Housing) is hereby amended by adding the
following language to the end of this subsection:
In exception to the forgoing, for Avenues and Cours west of Main Street , the numbering
shall be increased in numerical order in a westerly direction , so that the first number west of
Main Street shall be number one hundred (100).
Section 3 Alameda Muncipal Code Subsection 13-25.1 (System to be Followed)
of Aricle VII (Numbering of Buildings) of Chapter XIII (Building and Housing) is hereby amended
by adding Subsection 13-25.1 (f) to read:
(f) All A venues and Cours west of Main Street ruing in an easterly and
westerly direction shall contain the prefix "West."
Section 4 Pursuat to City Charter section 3 -, this Ordinance shall be deemed
to be an urgency measure and shall tae effect immediately upon its final adoption by four votes
the City Council.
Section 5 If any section , subsection, sentence , clause or phrase of ths Ordinance
is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent
jursdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of the Ordinance.
The City Council hereby declares that it would have passed this Ordinance and each section
subsection, sentence , clause , and phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that anyone or more
sections , subsections , sentences , clauses or phrases be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
