MAY 29. 1992
The Meeting convened at 7:00 p.m., with President Withrow
presiding. Councilmember Roth led the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL - Present: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Lucas,
Roth, and President Withrow - 5.
Absent: None.
92 -396 Hearing to Consider Appeal of Non - Renewal of Dance Permit
for Establishment located at 1544 Webster Street, Johnny's Cocktail
Lounge. (Continued from May 12, 1992.)
President Withrow stated the procedures for the Hearing, including
basic ground rules for witnesses.
Councilmember Camicia stated he would be abstaining for reason
given previously [May 12, 1992, Council Meeting] and stepped down
from the dais.
Julie Houk, Attorney at Law, representing Petitioners, objected to
Councilman Arnerich hearing the matter and requested he excuse
himself from the Hearing; Councilman Arnerich made a statement and
denied the request.

A statement, in lieu of appearance to testify, by Carol Korade,
Alameda City Attorney, representing Alameda Police Department, was
read into the record by Attorney Chanin.

A statement by Rob Wonder, Assistant City Manager, was read by
Attorney Chanin.

Attorneys for Petitioners and City made closing statements.
Following brief discussion, during which the hearing process was
deemed to be completed and the meeting would be continued for
Council discussion and decision, Councilmember Lucas moved to
continue the meeting to June 3, 1992, at 5:30 p.m. Councilman
Arnerich seconded the motion which carried by the following voice
vote: Ayes: Councilmembers Arnerich, Lucas, Roth and President
Withrow - 4. Noes: None. Absent: None. Abstentions: Councilmember
Camicia - 1.
ADJOURNMENT
President Withrow adjourned the meeting at 1:35 a.m.
