ORDINANCE NO. 819,
NEW SERIES.
AN ORDINANCE ADDING AR-
'TICLE 6 'J'O CHAPTER 3, TITLE
XII, OF THE ALAMEDA MU-
NICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
FORTUNE-TELLING, CLAIR -
VOYANCE, HYPNOTISM, ETC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALA-
MEDA, as follows: ..
SECTION 1. The Alameda Mumci-
pal Code is hereby amended by
adding to Chapter 3. Title XII,
thereof a new article to be known
as Article 6, whicl). article sha)l be
composed of sections respectively
numbered and entitled as herein-
after provided and which shall read

voyance, Hy1n1otis1n, etc. ..
Sec. 12-361. Fortune-telling, Clair-
voyance, Hy1motism, et<". It shal) l:Je
unlawful for any person to exhibit,
eng·age in or conduct in the City
of Afameda, for a fee or _other com-
pensation or remuneration or any
representative of value or othE'.r
consideration whatsoever, the busi-
ness art or practice of astrology,
paln.;istry, phrenology, life-readi~g,
fortune-telling, cartomancy, clair-
voyance, clairampence, cry st a .1 -
gazing hypnotism, medrnmsh1p,
prophecy, augury, divination, mind-
reading, magic or necro1nancy.
SECTION 2. Any person to whom
a license has been issued by the
City of Alameda to exhibit, engage
in, or conduct in this city any of
the businesses, arts, or practices
specified in Sec. 12-361 of the Ala-
meda Municipal Code shall, on and
after the effective date of such sec-
tion and upon making application
to the Council, be entitled to a pro
rata refund of the amount paid by
him for such license in the propor-
tion that the period' of time between
the effective date of this ordinance
and the date of expiration of such
license bears to the period for which
such license was originally issued.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall
bA in full force and effect from and
after the expiration of thirty (30)
days from the date of its final
passage.
