HELD TUESDAY JANUARY 22, 1980
Convened at 12:00 noon, with President Corica presiding.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Councilman Diament, Sherratt, Stone, Tillman and President Corica - 5.
Absent: None.
The Notice and Agenda of this Special Meeting is cn file in the Office of
City Clerk. Purpose of the Special Meeting was for an Executive Session for
discussion of personnel matters and action thereon, if desired.
80 -076 Councilman Tillman made a motion, seconded by Councilman Diament,
that the Council adjourn to Executive Session for a discussion of personnel
and litigation; the motion carried by unanimous voice vote - 5.
After Council discussion, President Corica ordered the Special Meeting
reconvened.
80 -077 Councilman Tillman made a motion, seconded by Councilman Diament,
as follows:
1. Directed that the position of Finance Director be created
with a salary range of $2,645.00 to 53,213.00 per month;
that a resolution be placed on the Council agenda of
February 5, 1980, implementing that action; and the City
Manager authorized to begin recruitment to fill the position
immediately.
2. Directed that a Charter Amendment be placed on the ballot of
the June 3, 1980, election which would eliminate the requirement
that the Auditor and Treasurer be elected officers and that the
duties currently administered by the Auditor and Treasurer be
designated the responsibility of the Finance Director, who
shall be appointed by the City Manager subject to approval
by the City Council.
3. Directed that a resolution be prepared appointing Eleanor Wallace
as Acting Auditor - Assessor, effective March 3, 1980, through
June 3, 1980, and establishing the salary at the third step of
the Auditor - Assessor salary, $2,105.00 per month.
The motion carried by unanimous voice vote - 5.
80 -078 After further Council discussion, Councilman Sherratt made a motion,
seconded by Councilman Tillman, that the City Attorney be directed to prepare
contract, for Council consideration, with J. Bruce Rupp to provide the
services of City Manager for a one -year period; the motion carried by
unanimous voice vote - 5.
There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting
adjourned at 1:45 p.m.
