1968-05-15 Special CC MinutesADJOURNED SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
HELD WEDNESDAY EVENING MAY 15, 1968
The meeting convened at 8:00 o'clock p.m. with President McCall presiding.
ROLL CALL:
The roll was called and Councilmen Bartley, Fore, La Croix, Jr., and President McCall, (4),
were noted present. Absent: Councilman Levy, (1).
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. One of the parties originally nominated as a Commissioner of the Housing Authority, at the special
meeting held Monday, May 13, regretfully had to decline said nomination due to the pressure of his
business responsibilities. Therefore, the Council then determined upon the nomination of Mrs. Richard
Diament (Anne B.) to serve instead.
The nominees of said Housing Authority were present at this session with the exception of Mr. Charles E.
Butler. This adjourned special meeting had been set in order that the new personnel could be briefed
with regard to the many serious problems involved in this complex Estuary Housing situation. The
legal aspects and proper procedures were clarified and explained by the City Attorney and the City
Manager so the Housing Authority, as newly constituted, could assume full responsibility and initiate
positive actions to effect the relocation of the many families still living in these deplorable
conditions.
Following the executive session, the order of business was referred to "Resolutions".
RESOLUTIONS:
2Y Councilman La Croix introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
Resolution No. 7319
Appointing Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the City of Alameda."
(Charles E. Butler, Anne B. Diament, Clarence Gilmore, William S. Godfrey
and Howard K. Palmer, Jr.)
The =flan to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Fore and on roll call carried by the
following vote. Ayes: Four. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Levy, (1).
The President declared said resolution adopted and the four members present were then sworn in by the
City Clerk.
ADJOURNMENT:
3. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the Council adjourned.
