HELD THURSDAY AFTERNOON MAY 25, 1967
The meeting convened at 4:00 o'clock p.m. with President McCall presiding.
ROLL CALL:
None.
Noted present were Councilmen Bartley, La Croix, Jr., Rose and President McCall, (4). Absent:
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1Y"' This adjourned special meeting had been called to continue discussion commenced at the special
session held Tuesday, May 23, 1967, on the matter of appointing two new members of the City Council
to fill the vacancies due to the resignation of Councilman William S. Godfrey, effective May 17, and
of Councilman George A. Rose, effective July 1, 1967.
Councilman La Croix moved the Council go into executive session to continue its deliberations. The
motion was seconded by Councilman Bartley and unanimously carried.
The Council then proceeded to interview, each in turn, candidates for the two Council seats, as agreed
upon previously.
At the conclusion of the interviews and summarizing discussion, Councilman La Croix moved that Mr.
Gustave Levy, 616 Pond Isle, be appointed to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Godfrey. The
motion was seconded by Councilman Bartley and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Four.
Noes: None. Absent: None. It was stated that Mr. Levy would be formally sworn in as a Councilman
of the City of Alameda at the next regular meeting, on Tuesday, June 6.
Councilman Bartley then moved that Mr. James W. Fore, 1376 East Shore Drive, be appointed to fill the
unexpired term of Councilman Rose. The motion was seconded by Councilman La Croix and on roll call
carried by the following vote. Ayes: Four. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Fore would then take
office as a Councilman of the City of Alameda at the meeting of the Council on Wednesday, July 5,
1967.

2. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the Council adjourned.
