1964-01-15 Special CC MinutesSPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
HELD WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 15, 1964
The meeting convened at 3:30 o'clock p.m. with President Godfrey presiding.
ROLL CALL:
The roll was called and Councilmen Freeman, McCall, Rose and President Godfrey, (4), were noted
present. Absent: Councilman La Croix, Jr., (1).
NEW BUSINESS:

1. Receipt of the Notice and Agenda for this special meeting had been acknowledged and was on file.
The purpose of the meeting was to consider the matter of a contract for the Golf Course Professional
and to take action thereon if so desired.
The President explained that in view of the death of Mr. Earl Fry, said Concessionaire since 1958^
it was felt advisable to enter into an agreement for a temporary replacement pending further study
of the circumstances involved.
City Attorney Cunningham clarified certain terms of the contract under which Mr. Fry had operated,
and also the provisions of the resolution which had been prepared to take care of the situation at
this time. The term of the temporary contract would be from January 14, 1904, through March 31,
1964.
A lengthy discussion was had on the procedure to pursue before making the appointment. It was
believed that there would be considerable interest shown in this concession. It was suggested
that recommendations could be submitted from the Golf Commission.
The matter was then referred to "Resolutions".
2.- The following resolution was introduced by Councilman McCall, who moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 6550
Resolution Authorizing Execution of Agreement for Temporary Golf
Professional."
The motion to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Freeman and on roll call curried by
the following vote. Ayes: Four. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman La Croix, (1).
The President declared said resolution adopted.
The City Manager was asked to convey to the Golf Commission the Council's thinking in this matter
and to inform the Commission that the Council would like to hold a joint personnel session with it
at the proper time.

3. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the Council adjourned.
