1963-03-27 Special CC Minutes
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA HELD WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, MARCH 27, 1963 The meeting convened at 3:30 o'clock p.m. with President Collischonn presiding. ROLL CALL: The roll was called and Councilmen Godfrey, McCall, Rose and President Collischonn, (4), were noted present. Absent: Councilman Schacht, (1). Also present were Mrs. Helen L. Freeman and Mr. Terry La Croix, Jr., Councilmen- elect, as well as certain members of "Coliseum, Inc. ", and several interested citizens. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Receipt of the Notice and Agenda of this special meeting had been acknowledged by each of the Councilmen and was on file. 2Y The purpose of the meeting was for an informal presentation and explanation of the proposed Stadium Complex by representatives of Oakland- Alameda County Coliseum, Inc. President Collischonn introduced Mr. Robert T. Nahas, President of the Board of Directors of said Corporation, and asked him to proceed. Mr. Nahas reviewed the history of the organization of the Oakland - Alameda County Coliseum, Inc., and stated the other Board members were Messrs. William F. Knowland, Edgar Kaiser and George C. Loorz. He explained the procedure involved in this matter and submitted in detail the facts and figures pertinent to the financing of said Stadium Complex under the lease - purchase plan, pointing up the costs to the several governmental agencies included. A question and answer period was had in clarification of certain phases of the contemplated develop- ment and points concerning the cost estimates. President Collischonn had to excuse himself from the meeting at 4:30 ©'clock to attend another meeting, and asked Councilman Godfrey to assume the Chair. Following some further discussion, Mr. Nahas expressed the hope that the Alameda City Council would adopt a resolution in support of the Stadium Complex. Councilman Godfrey thanked Mr. Nahas for his informative presentation. ADJOURNMENT: 3. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the Council adjourned at 4:50 o'clock.
