1956-04-11 Special CC MinutesSPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAP/IEDA HELD WEDNESDAY EVENING, APRIL 11, 1956 The meeting convened at 7:30 o'clock P. M. with President Kranelly presiding. ROLL CALL: The roll was called and Councilmen Haag, Hove, McCall, Moresi and President Kranelly, (5), were noted present. Absent: None. NEW BUSINESS: 1. The Clerk read the Call and Notice of Special Meeting, setting forth the speci- fic purpose therefor, and stated that receipt of copies of said Notice had been ack- nowledged by each Councilman. The Clerk also stated the Affidavit of Service to the Councilmen, signed by Officer Paul Nelson, and the Affidavit of Service to the Ala- meda Times Star and the Oakland Tribune, signed by the City Clerk, were on file. RESOLUTIONS: J 2. The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Hove, who moved its adop- tion: "Resolution No. 5299 Resolution Determining That the Public Interest and Necessity Demand the Acquisition, Construction and Completion by the City of Alameda of the Following Municipal Improvement, To -Wit: The Filling of City Owned Submerged (Tide) Land Located at Washington Park; Determining That the Acquisition, Construction And Completion of Said. Municipal Improvement is Necessary and convenient to Carry Out the Objects, Purposes and Powers of Said City; and Determining That the Cost of Said Municipal Improvement Will Require an Expenditure Greater Than the Amount Allowed Therefor by the Annual Tax Levy." The motion to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Moresi and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Haag, Hove, McCall, Moresi and President Aranelly, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. Thereupon the resident declared said resolution duly adopted and passed. INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES: 3. Councilman Haag introduced the following ordinance, after which it was laid over under provision of the law and the Charter: "Ordinance No. New Series An Ordinance Calling a Special Municipal Bond Election in the City of Alameda for. the Purpose of Submitting to the Electors of Said City the Measure of Incurring a Bonded Indebtedness of Said City for the. Acquisition, Construction and Completion of the Following Municipal Improvement, To -Wit: The Filling of City Owned Submerged (Tide) Land Located at,. Washington Park; Declaring The Estimated Cost of Said Municipal Improvement, The Amount of the rrincipal of Said Indebtedness to be. Incurred Therefor, and the Maximum -Rate of Interest to be 'aid Thereon; Making Provision for the Levy and Collection of Taxes; Fixing the Date of -Said Election, the Manner of Holding the Same, Providing for Notice Thereof, and Consoli- dating Said Municipal Bond Election With the Official Presidential Primary Election of the State of Calif- ornia to be Held June 5, 1956." ADJOURNMENT: 4. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the Council adjourned to assemble in regular session on Tuesday evening, April 17, 1956, a t 8 :00 o'clock.
