SPECIAL MEETING OF TEE COUNCIL OF-THE CITY OF ALAMhDA
HELD TUESDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 22, 1949
The meeting convened at 11:00 o'clock a. m. with President Branscheid
presiding.
ROLL CALL:
The roll was called and Councilmen Anderson, Sweeney and President Branscheid,
(3), were noted present. Absent: Councilmen Jones and Osborn, (2).
At the request of President Branscheid, the Clerk read the "Call and Notice
of Special Meeting" setting forth the purpose thereof, and the Affidavit of Ser-
vice of such notice upon each member of the Council, was ordered filed.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. President Branscheid asked City Manager Froerer to make a report on the
matter before the Council. Mr. Froerer stated that the owners of the property
in question have an opportunity to acquire fill from an excavation being made
in Oakland, but it will be necessary that the filling of their property start
tomorrow if they are to take advantage of this opportunity. He pointed out
that under the terms of the Alameda Municipal Code, Council action is necessary
to the granting of a permit to fill and he recommended that such a permit be
granted in the present case.
The application was read to the Council, for a permit to fill certain land lying
between Peach and Market Streets and Fillmore and. Washington Streets, which was
signed by Mary Pingree, Fred Linderman, Isabel Nolte and Dr. McKean.
Councilman Sweeney moved the recommendation of the City Manager be adopted and
the permit to fill be granted. The motion was seconded by Councilman Anderson
and unanimously carried.

2. There being no further business to come before the special meeting, the Council
adjourned, to assemble in regular session on Tuesday evening, December 6, 1949, at
8:00 o'clock.
