1947-12-09 Regular CC MinutesRO ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF ALAMEDA HELD TUESDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 9, 1947 The meeting convened at 8:00 P. M. with President Branscheid presiding. L CALL: The roll was called and Councilmen Anderson, Jones, Osborn, Sweeney and President Branscheid, (5), were noted present. Absent: None. HEARINGS: 1. President Branscheid stated that the next matter before the Council would be the hearing on the shoreline development plan and explained briefly the back- ground of the plan and the necessity for long range City planning. A letter was read from the City Planning Board, notifying the Council of its approval of the master plan of shoreline development and submitting it for action by the Council. The City Clerk read the "Notice of Hearin" and the Affidavit of Publication was ordered filed. Several cornunications were read from Alamedans Incorporated". At this point, President Branscheid requested the City Manager to present and explain the shoreline development plan. Following the presentation by the City Manager, President Branscheid called for Questions on the matters explained by the City Manager and numerous persons present propounded questions. After the question and answer period, President Branscheid stated that he under- stood Mr. A. C. Agnew, Attorney, had a statement to make and thereupon called upon Mr. Agnew who addressed the Council at length, setting forth the objections of his clients to the plan. Mr. Frank Gottstein then spoke, voicing objections. Following Mr. Gottstein's remarks, Councilman Jones took the floor and stated that inasmuch as very little, if any, progress had been made at this meeting, it was his belief the public interest could best be served by the holding of a further hearing at some later date with the idea that during the interim all parties would have an opportunity to consider the shoreline plan as presented at this hearing and any alternative plan they might wish to submit. He made a motion to this effect. The motion was seconded by Councilman Sweeney, who suggested that the next hearing be held in the High School Auditorium in order that all who wished to be present could be accommodated. The motion was unanimously carried. President Branscheid stated he would announce the date of the continued hearing at the next meeting of the Council on. December 16, 1947. DILLS: 2. An itemized List of Claims against the Krusi Park Extension Fund in the total amount of ,;3,700. was presented to the Council at this meeting. Councilman Jones moved the bill as itemized in the List of Claims filed with the City Clerk on December 9, 1947, and presented at this time, be allowed and paid. The motion was seconded by Councilman Osborn and on roll call carried by the fol- lowing vote. Ayes: Councilmen Anderson, Jones, Osborn, Sweeney and President Branscheid, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. NOTE: 3. A complete transcript of the hearing on the adoption of the master plan of shoreline development was made by a shorthand reporter and is on file in the office of the City Clerk. Said transcript constitutes a record of the proceedings of this meeting and is by reference made a part of these minutes. ADJOURNMENT: 4.
