The meeting convened at 8:00 p. m- with IHLAsindent Godfrey presiding.
ROLL CALL:
The roll was called and Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Osborn. and
President Godfrey, (5), were noted present. Absent: None.

From California-Western States Life Insurance Company, explaining that be-
cause of favorable claim experience, it is now possible to grant certain liberali-
zations under the group insurance plan to which, various City employees have
subscribed. and requesting the opinion of the Council as to the acceptability of
the change in benefits.
There being no objections, Mayor Godfrey recuested that the California-Western
States Life Insurance Company be informed that the stipulated changes are ac-
ceptable and that the company should notify the individual insured employees of
such changes.
oRAL COMMUICTIOS:
3. Mayor Godfrey brought up the possible advisability of changing "Oral
Communications" from its present place on the agenda of the Council to a place
further along in the order of business. it was decided to proceed as the
ordinance regulating the order of business now provides.
4'. Councilman Jones stated he had been on a tour of the City. with. members of
the Alameda War Housing Center Committee and was most gratified at the general
attitude of that canuittee and the progress it is making.

Councilman Mbwe moved this bond be approved. The motion was seconded by Council-
man. Branscheid ai d. unanimously carried.

The motion to adopt said reso)ution was seconded by Councilman Howe and on roll

Osborn. and President Godfrey, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. Thereupon the
Mayor declared said resolution duly adopted and passed.

Communication from County of Alameda Board of Supervisors, to
which was attached certified copy of its resolution to present
to the voters a proposition to raise the necessary funds to
augment the Federal funds proposed to be contributed for the
construction of another tube under the Estuary.
16. At this time Councilman Osborn ,,poke about the discoloration of the paint
on houses in the east end, caused by as from sewage odors.
