1938-05-12 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA HELD THURSDAY EVENING, MAY 12, . . . . . . . . . . 1938 The meeting convened at 5:30 o'clock P.M. with President Weichhart presiding. The roll was called, and Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurcr, Morris and Pres- ident Weichhart, (5), were noted present. Absent: None. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES: vl. A communication was received from the City Planning Board informing the Council it had approved a preliminary map as to layout of lots and streets, which had been submitted by George Windsor and John F. Ward, of the "North Fernside Tract". Council- man Maurer moved that the preliminary map accompanying the City Planning Board's report be approved, seconded by Councilman Carrington and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. 2. City Auditor, Fred J. Croll, addressed the Council as Chairman of a Citizens' Committee to procure funds to defray the expenses of Alameda High School rowing crew to New Jersey. Councilman Godfrey submitted the following resolution: "That the Alameda Chamber of Commerce be authorized to engage the services of the members of the Alameda High School rowing crew, its manager and coaching staff, for the purpose of carrying out a program of advertising and publicity for the City of Alameda by the distribution of pamphlets, circulars and other means of publicity to be carried out in connection with the trip to be undertaken by said crew to participate in the crew races to be held on Lake Carnegie, New Jersey, on May 28, 1938, and to incur an expenditure therefor in a sum not to exceed $250.00, to be paid on the completion of services and upon claim and statement audited and approved as provided in the contract with said Chamber of Commerce dated August 18, 1937". Councilman Maurer seconded the motion and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. 3. At this time President Weichhart asked to be excused, and Vice President Godfrey assumed the Chair. 14. Councilman Morris read and submitted to the Council a proposed plan for a Retire- ment Fund for City employees. 5. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to meet in regular session on Tuesday evening, May 17th, 1938, at 8 o'clock P.M. Respectfully submitted,
