HELD THURSDAY AFTERNOON, MARCH 13, 1941
The meeting convened at 5:03 o'clock P. M., with President Weichhart presiding.
ROLL CALL:
The roll was called and Councilmen Godfrey, Maurer and. President Weichhart, (3),
were noted present. Absent: Councilmen Carrington and. Morris, (2).
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS:
1. From the East Bay Division of the League of California. Cities, giving notice of
its next bi-monthly meeting to be held at Antioch, Friday evening, March 21, 1941, at
7:00 o'clock in the Methodist Church.
It was requested that this notice be brought to the attention of the City Manager,
and, there being no objections, the communication was ordered filed.
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES:

2. From the City Planning Board, recommending reclassification of property owned by
The Regents of the University of California, lying immediately north of Atlantic Ave-
nue, running west from Webster Street to the Southern Pacific right-of-way adjoining
Main Street and comprising approximately 70 acres, from the "H" Heavy Industrial Dis-
trict to the "C" Multiple Family Dwelling District.
Councilman Godfrey moved that the recommendation of the City Planning Board be adopted,
seconded by Councilman Maurer and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes:
Councilman Godfrey, Maurer and. President Weichhart, (3). Noes: None. Absent: Coun-
cilmen Carrington and Morris, (2).

3. From the City Planning Board, recommending the denial of petition for reclassi-
fication, filed by Boyle Manufacturing Company, of its certain property lying on the
west side of Oak Street, between Clement Avenue and. Buena Vista Avenue, from the "G"
Light Industrial District, to the "11" Heavy Industrial District.
Councilman Maurer moved the recommendation of the City Planning Board be adopted and
the petition be denied, seconded by Councilman Godfrey and on roll call carried by
the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Godfrey, Maurer and President Weichhart, (3).
Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Carrington and Morris, (2).
ORDINANCES INTRODUCED:
4. The following ordinance was introduced by Councilman Maurer, after which it was
laid over under provision of law and the Charter:

5. The following ordinance was introduced by Councilman Godfrey, after which it was
laid over under provision of law and the Charter:

Section 14-213 and. Adding Subdivision (2)
to Section 14-215 of the Alameda Municipal
Code Relating to Fire Zones."
NEW BUSINESS:
4: Councilman Maurer suggested that Councilmen-elect Anderson and Branscheid be in-
vited to attend the meetings of the Committee of the Whole, prior to the induction of
these Councilmen-elect into office on April 15, 1941, in order that they might fami-
liarize themselves with the Council routine. It was so ordered.

Section 12 to Ordinance No. 725, New Series."
Councilman Godfrey moved that, inasmuch as copies of Ordinance No. 749, New Series,
were delivered to each member of this Council personally, after its introduction and
before this meeting, and the members of the Council are familiar with the contents
thereof, the reading of the aforementioned ordinance be dispensed with by unanimous
consent. The motion was seconded by Councilman Maurer and on roll call carried by
the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Godfrey, Maurer and President Weichhart, (3).
Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Carrington and Morris, (2).
Councilman Godfrey moved the ordinance, as read by title only, be adopted. The motion
was seconded by Councilman Maurer and on roll call carried by the following vote.
Ayes: Councilmen Godfrey, Maurer and President Weichhart, (3) . Noes: None. Absent:
Councilmen Carrington and. Morris, (2).
