1938-10-05 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
HELD WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, OCTOBER 5th 1938
The meeting convened at 5:30 o'clock P.M. with President Weichhart presiding.
The roll was called, and Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and Pres-
ident Weichhart, (5), were noted present. Absent: None.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS:
vl. A communication was received from the Railroad Commission of the State of Californ-
ia, notifying the Council that an application had been received from the Southern Pacffio
Golden Gate Ferries, Ltd., requesting authority to abandon its vehicular service between
San Francisco and Alameda and asking whether the Council was agreeable to or would
oppose the granting of the application. Councilman Godfrey moved that the Railroad
Commission be notified that the Council would vigorously oppose the granting of the
application, seconded by Councilman Maurer and on roll call carried by the following
vote: Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart,
(5). Noes: None. Absent: None.
' 2. From Wm. Casson, General Chairman of Picnic Committee, Works Progress Administra-
tion, extending an invitation to the Council to attend a picnic to be given on Sunday,
October 9th, 1938, at Richmond, California. The communication was ordered filed.
RESOLUTIONS:
3. Councilman Maurer introduced and 'moved the adoption of
:'Resolution No. 2295
Authorizing the Making of Certain Work and
Improvements without Contract",
Councilman Morris seconded the motion, and on roll call carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (5).
Noes: None. Absent: None.
4. Councilman Morris introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 2296
Adopting Specifications for Furnishing Street
Lighting Standards to the City of Alameda,
Calling for Bids and Directing the City Clerk
to Advertise the. Same,"
Councilman Godfrey seconded the motion, and on_roll call carried by the following
vote: Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart,
(5). Noes: Nona. Absent: None.

5. Specifications for Furnishing Street Lighting Standards to the City of Alameda.
6. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to meet in
regular session on Tuesday evening, October 18th, 1938, at 8 o'clock P.M.
