1934-12-04 Regular CC MinutesREGULAR MEETING OF ThE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA HELD,TUESDATEVENING, DECEMBER 4th, 1934. The meeting convened ,at 8 o'clock P.M. with President Murray presiding. The roll was called and Councilmen Eschen,, Morris, Roebke and President Murray, (4) were noted present. Absent: Councilman Tiedemann, (1). The minutes of the regular meeting of November 20th, 1934, were read and approv- ed. 'TEN COMMUNICATIONS: Vi/ From the City Planning Commission recommending the reclassification of Lot 3 in Block "G", Waterside Terrace, from a Residence District, Glass I, to a Residence District, Class for the purpose of constructing a duplex bungalow. On motion of Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried, the rec- ommendation was adopted. 1/2.// From Alameda Taxpayers' League, accompanied by an offer or proposal to exchange the Posey Tube for a vehicular bridge. On motion of Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Eschen, the communication was ordered filed, following which Mr. C. C. Howard was granted special permission to address the Council in reference to the above communication. Mr. Gottstein also requested permission to do so, which per- mission was deferred until the Council was about to adjourn. / / Y 3./ From .Alameda Taxpayers' League, requesting the preparation of a suitable reso- lution to be presented to the Legislature providing for the establishment of a State Free Employment Bureau in the City of Alameda. On motion of Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried, the City Attorney was requested to prepare the necessary resolution, UNFINISHED BUSINESS: V 4./ A motion was made by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Eschen that an award of contract be made to the Seagrave Corporation at the price mentioned in their bid for a 1000 gallon pumper, it being the lowest and best bid according td the specifications furnished by the City of Alameda. After theCouncil was addressed by Messrs. West, Gottstein, Ferretti and others, in reference to the award, the motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Eschen, Morris and Pres- ident Murray, (3). Noes, Councilman Roebke.(1)Absent, Councilman Tiedemann, (1). The Mayor was autclorized to execute contract covering purchase of this equipment 5. A motion was made by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Eschen, that the certified checks be returned to the unsuccessful bidders, which was carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Eschen, Morris and President Murray, (3). Noes, Councilman Roebke, (1). Absent, Councilman Tiedemann, (1). V6./ On motion of Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried, Mr. S. Y. Haslett was re-appointed a member of the City Planning Conuaission for a term beginning December 1934. RESOLUTIONS: f Vr/. Councilman Eschen introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1893 Authorizing Payment of December Salaries and Pensions" Councilman Mbrris seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously. 8. Councilman Morris introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1894 Transferring '3,558.15 from the Electric Light Fand to the General Fund" Councilman Eschen seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously, ORDINANCE INTRODUCED: V 9. The following ordinances were introduced and laid over under provision of the Charter: "Ordinance No. New Series LASSIFYING PROPERTY Block "G" Waterside Terrace - nside Blvd. "Ordinance No. New Series Authorizing Lease to Oscar H. Anderson of Portion of Municipal Golf Course Club House of Alameda." Y/10. The Clerk stated that since the last regular meeting of the Council the following paper had been received for filing: Financial Report - Jordan & Ticoulet, as of October 31,1934. BILLS: 4 11. An itemized list of claims against the City of Alameda and the several departments thereof in the total amounts as follows, was presented to the City Council: General Departments, $8260.07; Police Department, $1.72; Fire Department, $37.58; Street Department, $1293.75; Health Department, $78.45; Park Department, $809.51; Golf Course Department, $371.24; Store Department, 04129.90; Social Servicer-Recreation Dept.,$24,54; Initiative Relief Fund, 0204.00 Street Improvement Fund, $13.32; East Bay Municipal Utility District Payments Fund, $5.92; Unemployment Fund, $944.00. Councilman Eachen moved, seconded by Councilman Morris, and on roll call passed unanimously, that the claims and bills against the City in the several amounts as listed and itemized in the List of Calicos against the City of Alameda and filed with the City Clerk on December 4th, 1934, and presented to the City Council at this meeting, be allowed and paid. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to meet in regular session on Tuesday evening, December 18th, 1934, at 8 o'clock P.M. Respectfully submitted,
