1935-01-15 Regular CC MinutesREGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AIDA HELD TUESDAY EVENING, JANUARY 15th, ........ 1935 The meeting convened at 8 o'clock P.M. with President Murray presiding. The roll was called and Councilmen Roebke, Morris, Tiedemann and President Murray, (4) were noted present. Absent: Councilman Es hen, (1). The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 2nd, 1935, were read and approved. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS: From the City Planning Commission recommending to the Council that a temporary revokable permit be granted to Mrs. A. Brictha, 2228 San Jose Avenue, to conduct upholstry repair work in the basement of her home. After the Council had been addres sed by Mr. William McStay protesting the granting of the permit, a motion was made by Councilman Tiedemann, seconded by Councilman Morris and carried, Councilman Roebke voting "No ", that the recommendation of the Planning Commission be adopted, and the permit be granted for a period of ninety (90) days. v 2. V From the State of California Veterans' Welfare Board, accompanied by a petition requesting cancellation of taxes for the year 1932 -33, on lot No. 446 in Block Lettered "X", as shown on that certain Map entitled, "Fernside, Alameda, California, May, 1925," filed in the Office of the County Recorder of said County of Alameda; the communication was referred to the City Attorney and the City Assessor. °f3. / Offers were received for the purchase of 184 steel lockers, located in the Wash- ington Park Bath House, as follows: From Beetle Steel and Supply Company, 41.00 each 4 184.00 From A. Bercovich Co .................. 1.25 each 230.00 Trask & Squier Go 265.00 On motion of Councilman Tiedemann, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried, the City Manager was instructed to arrange for the sale of the lockers to Trask & Squier Co., at the price bid. 4. ✓ From Alameda Post No. 9, Inc., American Legion, in reference to the activities of the American Legion Municipal Band for the year ending December 31st, 1934, and enclosing a report of the dates upon which the band had played, The communication was ordered filed. RESOLUTIONS: (7 5. Councilman Tiedemann introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1899 Authorizing Certain - Public Works an .Alameda Golf Course, Appropriating Finds Therefor, and Declaring an Emergency." Councilman Roebke seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously. 6. Councilman Tiedemann introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1900 Transferring 44,127.08 from the Electric Light Fund to the General Fund." Councilman Morris seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously. ORDINANCES INTRODUCED: 7. The following Ordinances were introduced and laid over under provision of the Charter: 'Ordinance No. , New Series Amending Section 304 of the Unifor m Building Code of the City of Alameda, Adopted by Ordinance No. 387, N.S. "Ordinance No. Authorizing Lease to State of Cal House" BILLS: forn , New Series a of Washington Park Bath V} 8. An itemized list of claims against the City of Alameda and the several depar ments thereof in the total amounts as follows, was presented to the City Council: General Departments 44187.59; Police Department 4119.19; Fire Department 4291.71; Street Department, 41363.27; Health Department, 4133.16; Park Department, 4946.28; Golf Course Department, 4400.74; Store Department, 45805.20; Social Service-Recreation Dept., 425.31; Initiative Relief Fund, 417.50; Unemployment Fund, .91 and Pension Fund, 4460.95. Councilman Morris moved, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann, and on roll call passed unanimously, thetthe claims and bills against the City in the several amounts as listed and itemized in the List'of Claims against the City of Alameda, filed with the City Clerk on January 15th, 1934, and presented to the City Council at this meeting be allowed and paid. Councilman Morris moved, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann and unanimously carried, that when_ the Council adjourn it do so to meet in adjourned regular session on Friday evening, January 25th, 1935, at 8 o'clock Councilman Tiedemann moved, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried, that the Council adjourn to meet in adjourned regular session on January 25th, 1935, at 8 o'clock P.M.
