HELD TUESDAY EVENING, MARCH 19th ............ 1935
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock P.M. with Vice President Eschen presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Eschen, Morris, Roebke and Tiedemann (4)
were noted present. Absent: President Murray (1).
The minutes of the Regular meeting of March 5th, 1935, were read and apprOved.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS:
V i://• From the Alameda County Building'Trades Council, accompanied by a resolution
approvihg the appointment of Walter P. Koetitz as City Manager of the City of Alameda,
and requesting his retention by the incoming recently elected Councilmen. The
communication was ordered filed.
/ 2./ C. C. Co. 915, Camp San Pablo Dam, inviting the Council city officials
and citizens to attend an inter-field day to be held March 24th, 1935. The communi-
oation'was ordered filed.
3.v/ From the City Planning Commission, requesting the Council to give consideration
to the report of the City Manager concerning the construction of a yacht harbor,
recommending its adoption and construction of the harbor as early as possible Under
the jurisdiction of the City Manager; also that the City Manager be authorized to
appoint a yacht harbor commission of five members, the majority of whom to be yachts-
men. The communication was ordered filed. On motion of Councilman Morris, seconded
by Councilman Tiedemann and unanimously carried, the City Attorney was requested to
ascertain under the jurisdiction of which department of the City a yacht harbor should
be operated, and the City Manager to report from what funds the cost of construction
could be supplied.
/ 4." From the North Side Protective Club, thanking the Council for the use of the
Council Chambers on the evening of March 7th. Communication ordered filed.
5. From the City Manager, recommending that a Counoil permit be granted the Shell
Oil Company to install additional 290 gal. capacity gasoline storage tank on the
premises on the northeast corner of Webster Street and Pacific Avenue, which in-
stallation had been approved by the Chief of the Fire Department. On motion of
Councilman Tiedemann, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried, the
Council permit was granted for the installation.
6. From George Postel, outlining the advantages to be derived from the establish-
ment of a municipal yacht harbor. The communication was ordered filed.

7." From the City Planning Commission, recommending to the Council the reclassifi-
cation of 1629 Alameda Avenue, from a Residence District, Class I, to a Residence
District, Class 1 3/4, to permit remodeling for flats. On motion of Councilman
Tiedemann, seconded by Councilman Roebke and unanimously carried, the recommendation
was adopted.
NEW BUSINESS:
v 8. A motion was made by Councilman Tiedemann, seconded by Councilman Morris and
unanimously carried, that when the Council adjourn, it adjourn to meet in Adjourned
Regular Meeting on Friday evening March 22nd, 1935, at 8 o'clock P.M.

On motion of Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Roebke and unanimous-
ly carried, a recess of fifteen minutes was then taken.
12. The Council re-convened and Councilman Morris introduced and moved the
adoption of
"Resolution No. 1914
Declaring Result of Special Municiizl Election
Held in the City of Alameda on Tuesday, March 12,
1935, for the Purpose of Electing Commissioners
on the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners and
on the Board of Public Utilities Commissioners,
and Special Election held in the Same Cityon the
Same Date for the Purpose of Submitting a Proposal
for Amending the Charter of Said City"
Councilman Tiedemann seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unani-
mously.

( 13. The Clerk stated that since the last regular meeting the following papers
had been received:

the Charter of the City of Alameda.
Notice of Annual Meeting - Alameda Belt Line,
BILLS:
I' 14. An itemized list of claims against the City of Alameda and the several depart-
ments thereof in the total amounts as follows, was presented to the City Council:
General Departments, $5266.94; Police Department, $22.47; Fire Department, $13454.49;
Street Department, $1414,49; Health Department, $103.94; Park Department, $986.71;
Golf Course Department, $464.69; Store Department, $3583.58; Social Service-Recreation.
Department, $42.57; Initiative Relief Fund, $16.00; Compensation Insurance Fund,
$5.00; Street Improvement Fund, $41.34 and School General Fund, $1135.79.
Councilman Tiedemann moved, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried,
that the claims and bills against the City in the amounts as listed and itemized in
the List of Claims against the City of Alameda, filed with the City Clerk on March
19th, 1935, and presented to the City Council at this meeting, be allowed and paid,
15. There being no further business to transact, on motion of Councilman Tiedemann,
seconded by Councilman Morris, and unanimously carried, the Council adjourned to
meet in Adjourned Regular Meeting on Friday evening, March 22nd, 1935, at 8 o'clock,
P.M.
