HELD TUESDAY MORNING JUNE 25th 1935
The meeting convened at 11 o'clock A.M. with Council President Roebke presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3), were
noted present. Absent: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
Upon motion of Councilman Broyles, seconded by Councilman Munro, and unanimously
carried, the regular order of business was suspended.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:
Stanley D. Whitney presented and read a written protest from Councilmen James
N. Eschen and Bert W. Morris on the matter of holding meetings in the morning. Council-
man Munro moved, seconded by Councilman Broyles and unanimously carried, that the com-
munications be filed.
42. Mrs. H. O. Tenney addressed the Council on the matter of holding Council meetings
in the morning.
3. /Mr. Wm. G. Paden, Secretary of the Board of Education, addressed the Council in
the matter of the school budget. Councilman Broyles moved, seconded by Councilman
Munro, that the sum of $5,981.39 be transferred from the General Fund to the School
Fund upon the approval and consent of the City Attorney. The roll was called, and the
motion passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President
Roebke, (3). Noes: None. Absent, Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
Mr. A. Donovan addressed the Council in the matter of the re-employment of the
discharged firemen and demands against the City,for back salaries. Councilman Broyles
moved, seconded by Councilman Munro, that the City Manager instruct the Board of
Police and Fire Commissioners that we will provide in the budget so that the three
men can go to work this month, and on roll call passed by the following vote: Ayes;
Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen
Eschen and Morris, (2).
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS:
A communication from the City Manager, B. Ray Fritz, regarding re-organization
of salaries. It was moved by Councilman Broyles, seconded by Councilman Munro, that
the recommendations of the City Manager be adopted to take effect on the first day of
July, 1935, and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Broyles,
Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes, none. Absent: Councilmen Eschen and Morris,
(2).
A letter from Mrs. Simon regarding the employment of J. Goldfarb in the Park
Department. The communication was ordered filed, and the ma ter referred to the City
Manager for immediate action.

From the Board of Public Utilities Commissioners regarding the transfer of
$1000.00 from the Electric Light Fund to the General Kind. The communication was
ordered filed.
RESOLUTIONS:
8. Councilman Broyles introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1962
Resolution Transferring $1500.00 from the General Fund
to Transportation Fund No. 1, and Transferring $1000.00
from the General Fund to Transportation Fund No. 2"
Councilman Munro seconded the motion and on roll call carried by the following vote:
Ayes, Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: None. Absent: Council-
men Eschen and Morris, (2).
ORDINANCE PASSED:
9- "Ordinance No.
New Series
An Ordinance Amending Section 2-111 of the Alameda
Municipal Code, so as to Provide that the Regular Meetings
of the Council shall be held at Eleven o'clock in the
Morning, instead of Eight o'clock in the Evening,"
Councilman Broyles moved that the ordinance as read be adopted, seconded by Council-
man Munro and on roll call passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Broyles,
Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Eschen and Morris,
(2).
ORDINANCE INTRODUCED:
10. The following ordinance was introduced and laid over under provision of the
Charter:
"Ordinance No.
New Series
An Ordinance Amending Sections 2-115, 2-116, and 2-118
of the Alameda Municipal Code".
11. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to meet
in regular session on Tuesday evening, July 2nd, 1935, at 8 o'clock P.M.
