HELD TUESDAY MORNING, AUGUST 6th . . . . . 1935
The meeting convened at 11 o'clock A.M. with President Roebke presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Broyles Eschen, Morris, Munro and President
Roebke, (5), were noted present. Absent: None
The minutes of the Adjourmd Regular Meeting of July 23rd, 1935, were read, and
after objections had been raised by Councilmen Eschen and Morris, they were approved.
COMMUNICATIONS:
\71. A communication was presented from the City Manager appointing a Poundmester and
recommending that his salary be fixed at $150.00 per month, to be effective immediately,
Councilman Broyles moved, seconded by Councilman Munro, that the recommendation of the
City Manager be adopted and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Council-
men Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
Absent: None.
2./ From the City Manager, recommending that an audit be made by the Special Auditors
of the Contingent Fund of the Chief of Police. Councilman Broyles moved, seconded
by Councilman Munro, that the recommendation of the City Manager be adopted and on
roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Eschen, Morris, Munro
and President Roebke, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None,

covering publication of the delinquent tax list, amounting to $1440.66. There being-
no objections, the communication was ordered filed.

A. From the Board of Public Utilities Commission, relative to various communications
previously submitted to the Council. The reading of this letter was interrupted by
Councilman Broyles who moved, seconded by Councilman Munro, that the communication be
filed without further reading. Councilman Munro offered an amendment, seconded by
Councilman Broyles, that the members of the Council be supplied with a copy of the
communication, and on roll call the amendment carried by the following vote: Ayes:

Morris, (2). Absent: None. The original motion was then put and on roll call carried

the retention of Mayor Roebke in office. The communication was ordered filed.

delinquent tax list. Councilman Broyles moved, seconded by Councilman Munro, that
the matter be referred to the City Attorney, and on roll call carried by the following
vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Eschen, Morris, Munro and President Roebke, (5)

From Mr. Lochi.el M. King, with reference to the suggestion of the City Manager
concerning his employment by the City of Alameda as Consulting Engineer. It was moved
by Councilman Munro; seconded by Councilman Broyles, that the Council accept the offer
of Mr. King. An amendment was made by Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman Morris,

2 From the Fernside Home Owners Association, requesting that certain improvements
be made in Lincoln Park. There being no objection, the matter was referred to the
City Manager.
43.i/ From Athearn, Chandler & Farmer, attorneys for Pan American Airways, Inc.,
regarding the provision in Pan American Airways, Inc., lease necessitating mainte-
nance of two registered mechanics at Alameda Airport. On motion of Councilman
Broyles, seconded by Councilman Eschen, the matter was referred to the City Attorney
and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Eschen,
Morris, Munro and President Roebke, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None.
vf4./From the City Manager, regarding various past expenditures of public funds,
and requesting authority be placed in the City Attorney and City Manager to examine
the distribution of these funds, and in the event that it is determined that any
expenditure thereof be Questionable, to institute legal proceedings for recovery.
On motion of Councilman Broyles, seconded by Councilman Munro, the recommendation '

Councilman Broyles moved, seconded by Councilman Munro, that the claims and bills
against the City in the amounts as listed and itemized in the List of Claims against
the City of Alameda filed with the City Clerk on August 6th, 1935, and presented to
the Council at this meeting, be allowed and paid. On roll call this motion carried
by the followin. vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Eschen, Morris, Munro and. Presi-
dent Roebke, (5 ), Noes: None. Absent: None.
20. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to meet in
regular session. on Tuesday morning, August 20th, 1935, at 11:00 o'clock A.M.
