REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ALAMEDA, TUESDAY EVENING, JANUARY 3, 1933.
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock with Council-Vioe-President Leydecker presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Morris, Shanly and Leydecker (3) were noted
present. Absent: President Murray and Councilman Schaefer (2)0
C010MUNICAT IONS:
The minutes of the regular meeting of December 20, 1932 were approved as read.
The following communications were received:
From the City Manager informing the Council that at a special meeting of the Board
of Public Utilities, held Friday, December 23, 1932, an extra dividend of $100#00 was voted
to the Alameda Kiddies Milk Belief Fund and requesting the Council to transfer the amount to
the Alameda Social Service Board. Mr* Shanly moved that the request be granted, seconded by
Mr. Morris, and on roll call carried unanimously.
2. From the City Manager submitting a proposed agreement between the State of
California and the City of Alameda covering the care of single unemployed Alameda citizens
at the State Labor Camps. The communication and agreement were, without objection, referred
to the City Manager and City Attorney.
3. From the City Manager referring to a communication read at the previous meeting of
the Council from the City Planning Commission relative to the lighting in the Alameda end of
the Posey Tube and informing the Council that Mr. Geo. A. Wilhelm,Cbiinty Engineer, was
making a study of the lighting conditions and that as soon as it is completed a report will
be made. There being no objection, the communication was ordered filed.
4. ✓ From the City Manager referring to Resolution #1707, passed by the Council at a
previous meeting, and calling attention to a form of resolution submitted to the Council
pledging support to a movement to obtain a new allocation of the State Gas Tax. There
being no objection,,the communication was ordered filed.
5. From-the Alameda Improvement Club calling attention to a communication addressed to
- the Council on August 13, 1932 in.referenee to allocation of funds derived from the State
Gasoline Tax. There being no object-ion, the communication was referred to the Committee of
the Whole.
6. // From the League of California Municipalities referring to a meeting held in
San Francisco on December 28, 1932 by the representatives of approximately 50 municipalities
in the State protesting the subjection of States and State Agencies to Federal taxes and
recommending the passage of a resolution by the Council endorsing such protest. There
being no objection, the communication was ordered filed and a,copy forwarded to the Board of
Public Utilities.
c7e' From the Alameda Improvement Club enclosing copy of resolution protesting against
V/ any further bond issues in Alameda County; also copy of resolution declaring the Alameda
Improvement Club opposed to any movement for a consolidated City and County Government of
cities and towns in Alameda County, There being no objection, the communication was ordered
filed.
8 From the City Planning Commission recommending to the Council the reclassif ieation
of property known as 1710 Encinal Avenue from Residential District, Class 1, to Residential
District, Class 11, to permit the remodeling of the premises from a one family residence to a
two family residence. Mr. Shanly moved that the recommendation be adopted, seconded by bLr.
Mr. Morris, carried unanimously.
RESOLUTIONS:
Mr. Morris introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1714
Resolution Endorsing Joint Plan of League of California
Municipalities and State Supervisors Association for
Distribution of Motor Tax Funds to Municipalities."
The motion was seconded by Mr. Shanly and on roll call carried unanimously.
10. Mr. Shanly introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1715
In Re: Federal Taxes - Revenue Act of 1932."
The motion was seconded by Mr. Morris and on roll call carried unanimously.
Mr. Morris introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1716
Transferring $100,00 From the Electric Light Fund to
The General Fund."
The motion was seconded by Mr. Shanly and on roll call carried unanimously*

The motion was seconded by Mr. Shanly and on roll call carried unanimously.
