HELD TUESDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 17th 1935
The meeting convened at 11 o'clock A.M. with President Roebke presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3), were
noted present. Absent: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
The minutes of the regular meeting of December 3, and of the special meetings of
December 9, 12, and 13, 1935, were read and approved.
COTICATIONS:
A communication was presented from Eugene C. Maillot, Sanitary Inspector, request-
ing leave of absence for period of ninety days. Councilman Broyles moved that the
matter be referred to the City Attorney, seconded by Councilman Munro and on roll call
carried by the following vote: Ayes': Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke,(3).
Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
om the City Manager, B. Ray Fritz, regarding admission charged to school child-
functions conducted within the schools. There being no objections, the matter
erred to the City Attorney.
From .y Cities Yacht Harbor regarding their harbor facilities and the general
need of a municipal yacht harbor. There being no objection, the communication was order-
ed filed.,
om the Aeolian Yacht Club, stressing the need of_a municipal yacht harbor. There

From the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners, requesting that the $75 appropria-
on for Junior Traffic Police, which was authorized at the last regular meeting of the
Council, be charged against the General Fund and not against Police Account No. 26.
Councilman Munro moved that the matter be referred to the Oit y Manager for investigation,
to determine what budget account could best stand the expense, seconded by Councilman
Broyles and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro
and. President ,Roebke,(3), Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
e . /From the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners, advising the Council that the
proposed amendment to the Municipal Code relating to absence from duty and sick leave
has the approval of the Commission for that part of same effecting the Police and Fire
Department personnel only. Councilmen Broyles moved that the matter be referred to

Alamedats transportation problem. Councilman Broyles moved that the oommunication
be referred to the City Manager reply to the recommendations and various suggestions

Trustees and Wm. J. Locke, City Attorney, submitting report of the status of the
P.W.A. grant for the proposed branch library building and recommending the action
advisable to be taken thereon._ There being no objection, the matter was deferred
until "Resolutions."
RESOLUTIONS:

Councilman Broyles offered an amendment to the resolution, in substance as follows:
"That all bids heretofore received for constructing said branch library building be
rejected and the bidders' checks returned, except that of said J.J.Grodem, which
shall not be returned, but shall be retained to pay the cost of advertising, and
other expense incurred by the City resulting from his action. "' Councilman Broyles
moved the adoption of the resolution as amended, seconded by Councilman Munro and on
roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President
Roebke, (3). Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Eschen and Morris,(2).

BILLS:
16. An itemized list of claims against the City of Alsmeda and the several departments
thereof in the total amounts as follows, as presented to the City Council: General
Departments , $47064,36; Police Department, $75.35; Pound Department, $2,07; Fire
Department, $63.00; Street Department, $2,91; Health Department, $272.36; Park Depart-
ment, $86.60; Golf Course Department, $81.25; Store Department, $2118.16; Social
Service Department, $71.21; Street Improvement Fund, $141.13; Library Construction
Fund, $118.43 and School General Fund, $301.40.
Councilman Munro mimed, seconded by Councilman Broyles, that the claims and bills
against the Gity in the amounts as listed and itemized in the List of Claims filed
with the City Clerk on December 17th, 1935, and presented to the Council at this
meeting be allowed and paid. On roll call this motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: None. Absent:
Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
17. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to meet in
regular session on Tuesday morning, January 7th, 1936, at 11 o'clock A.M.
