HELD TUESDAY EVENING, MARCH 3, 1936
The meeting convened at 7:30 o'clock P.M. with President Roebke, presiding.
The roll was called and. Councilmen Broyles, Eschen, Morris, Munro and President
Roebke, (5), were noted present. Absent: None.
COMMUNICATIONS:
1. From Mayor Hans W. Roebke, advising that he had removed Dr. H. Miller as a member
of the Board of Free Library Trustees., Councilman Broyles moved that the Council concur
in the removal, seconded by Councilman Munro and on roll call carried by the following
vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: Councilmen Eschen
and Morris, (2). Absent: None.
2. From S. M. Estabrook, tendering his resignation from the Board of Free Library Trust,.
ees. Councilman Broyles moved that the resignation be accepted, seconded by Councilman
Munro, and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro
and President Roebke, (3). Noes: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2). Absent: None.
3. /From Conrad Roth, tendering his resignation as a member of the Alameda Board of
Education. Councilman Broyles moved that the Council accept this resignation, seconded
by Councilman Munro and on roll call carried by the ,following vote: Ayes: Councilmen
Broyles, Eschen, Morris, Munro and President Roebke, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None.
4•/ From Mayor Hans W. Roebke, .advising that he had removed .Dr. Donald D. Lum as a
member of the Board or Education. Councilman Munro moved that this action be concurred
in, seconded by Councilman Broyles and on roll call carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: Councilmen Eschen and
Morris, (2). Absent: None.
5./ From Mayor Hans W. Roebke, advising that he had appointed S. M. Estabrook as a
member of the Board of.Education for the unexpired term of the late T.C.West, resigned.
Councilman Broyles moved that this appointment be concurred in by the Council, seconded,
by Councilman Munro and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen
Broyles, Munro and. President Roebke, (3). Noes: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
Absent: None.
6., From Mayor Hans W. Roebke, advising that he had appointed C. A. Caulfield as a
member of the Board of Education for the unexpired term of Dr. Donald D. Lum. Council-
men Munro moved that this appointment be confirmed by the Council, seconded by Council-
man Broyles and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles,
Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2). Absent: None.
7. /From Mayor Hans W. Roebke, advising that he had appointed William Carleton as a
member of the Board of Education for the unexpired term of Conrad Roth, resigned.
Councilmen Broyles moved that this appointment be concurred in by the Council, seconded
by Councilman Munro and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen
Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3 ), Noes: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
Absent: None.
8.7From Mayor Hans W. Roebke, advising that he had appointed William T. Johns as a
member of the Board of Free Library Trustees for the unexpired term of S. M. Estabrook.
Councilman Munro moved that this appointment be concurred in, seconded by Councilman
Broyles, and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles,
Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2). Absent:
None.
9. There being no further business to transact
