HELD SATURDAY MORNING, MAY 23RD 1936
The meeting convened at 9:00 o'clock A.M. with President Roebke, presiding.
The roll was called, and Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3),
were noted present. Absent: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
OPENING OF BIDS:
l.' following bids were presented for legal advertising of the City of Alameda:
ALAMEDA TIMES-STAR
For all legal advertising, except delinquent tax list,
First insertion 850 per square
Second, third, fourth and fifth insertions 55V " "

2./ The City Attorney addressed the Council regarding a hearing pertaining to a
suit instituted by the Gity of Los Angeles, with reference to allocating of personal
property taxes back to municipalities, and recommended that the City lend its support
in this matter. Thereupon Councilman Broyles moved that the City Attorney's recom-
mendation be concurred in and that the City Attorney be requested to appear in Los
Angeles at the hearing before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, June 2 -4 1936, at the
expense of the City, seconded by Councilman Munro, and on roll call carried by the
following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes:
None. Absent: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
RESOLUTIONS:
3. Councilman Broyles introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 2054
Granting Villadsen Brothers, Incorporated, Thirty Days
Extension of Time on the Library Contract",
Councilman Munro seconded the motion, and on roll call carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: None. Absent: Council-
men Eschen and Morris, (2).
4. The presiding offioer, Mayor Roebke, declared a recess until 10 o'clock A.M.
for the purpose of analyzing the bids received for advertising.
5. The Council reconvened at 10:00 o'clock A.M.
6. The roll was called and Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3),
were noted present. Absent: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2).
RESOLUTIONS:
7./ Councilman Broyles introduced and mared the adoption of
"Resolution No. 2055
Awading Contract for Newspaper Advertising to The Alameda
Journal, R. L. Brock, Publisher",
Councilman Munro seconded the motion, and on roll call carried by the following
vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen Zsohen and Morris, (2).
8. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to meet in
regular session on Tuesday morning, June 2nd, 1936,at 11 o'clock A.M.
