HELD WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, AUGUST 26th 1936
the meeting convened at 12:30 o'clock P.M. with Vice- president Broyles presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Broyles, Eschen, Morris, and President Roebke,
(4), were noted present. Absent: Councilman Munro, (1).
1. The Clerk .:offered for filing the affidavit of delivery of notices calling this
special meeting.
2. A communication was presented from Acting City Manager Chas.R.Schwanenberg, with
attached certificate from Carl Werner, Architect, of the acceptance of the Branch
Public Library at Eighth Street and Santa Clara Avenue, and requesting the Council to
verify the acceptance of this building. Councilman Eschen moved that the Branch Public
Library be accepted by the City of Alameda, seconded by Councilman Morris, and on roll
call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Eschen, Morris and Pres-
ident Roebke, (4). Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Munro, (1).
3. Councilman Morris introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 2076
Accepting Branch Library Building ",
Councilman Eschen seconded the motion, and on roll call carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Eschen, Morris and President Roebke, (4). Noes: None. Absent:
Councilman Munro, (1).
✓4. A communication was read from Bruce A. Munro tendering hi
man of the City of Alameda. Councilman Eschen moved that this
seconded by Councilman Morris, and on roll call carried by the
Councilman Broyles, Eschen, Morris and President Roebke, (4).

4(5. Councilman Eschen moved the appointment of Milton C. Godfrey as Councilman of the
City of Alameda for the unexpired term of Bruce A. Munro, resigned, seconded by Council-
man Morris and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles,
Eschen, Morris and President Roebke, (4). Noes: None. Absent: None. The Clerk thereupon
administered the oath of office to Mr. Godfrey.
✓`6. A communication was read from Charles W. Broyles tendering his resignation as
Councilman of the City of Alameda. Councilman Eschen moved that the resignation be ac-
cepted, seconded by Councilman Morris, and on roll call carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilman Broyles, Eschen, Godfrey, Morris and President Roebke,(5). Noes: None.
Absent: None.
v 7. Councilman Morris moved that Councilman Eschen be appointed Temporary Chairman of
the Council, seconded by President Roebke, and on roll call carried by the following
vote: Ayes: Councilmen Godfrey, Morris and President Roebke, (3). Noes: None. Not
Voting: Councilman Eschen, (1). Absent: None.
✓'8. A communication was presented from Hans W. Roebke, tendering his resignation as
Mayor and Councilman of the City of Alameda. Councilman Morris moved that this resig-
nation be accepted, seconded by Councilman Godfrey and on roll call carried by the
following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Eschen, Godfrey, Morris and President Roebke, (4).
Noes: None. Absent: None.
19. A communication was presented from Sherman G. Blood, tendering his resignation
as City Clerk of the City of Alameda. Councilman Morris moved that this resignation
be accepted, seconded by Councilman OXIttey and on roll call carried by the following
vote: dyes: ,Councilmen Eschen, Godfrey and Morris, (3). Noes: None. Absent: None.
/10. Councilman Morris moved that Mrs, Lorene R. Beatie be appointed as Acting City
Clerk of the City of Alameda, seconded by Councilman Godfrey, and on roll call carried
by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Esohen, Godfrey and Morris, (3). Noes: None.

City Attorney of the City of Asmeda. Councilman Morris moved that this resignation

12, Councilman Morris moved that H. Albert George be appointed City Attorney of the
City of Alameda, seconded by Councilman Godfrey and on roll call carried by the follow-
ing vote: Ayes: Councilmen Eschen, Godfrey and Morris, (3). Noes: None. Absent: None.
13. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to meet in
regular session on Tuesday morning, September 1st, 1936, at 11 o'clock A.M.
