1. The minutes of the regular meeting of July 7th, special meeting of July 8th, regular
meeting of July 21st, adjourned regular meeting of July 24th, regular meeting of August
4th, regular meeting of August 18th, special meeting of August 26th and regular meeting
of September 1st, were read and approved.
2. Councilman Morris-moved that when this meeting adjourns it do so to meet in ad-
journed regular session on Tuesday evening, September 8th, 1936, at 8 o'clock P,M.,
seconded by Councilman Godfrey and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes:
Councilmen Godfrey, Morris and Acting President Eschen, (3). Noes: None. Absent: None.
3. Councilman Morris moved that the regular order of business be suspended to proceed
under "New Business", seconded by Councilman Godfrey and on roll call carried by the
following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Godfrey, Morris and Acting President Esohen, (3).
Noes: None. Absent: None.
,/ 4. Councilman Morris moved, seconded by Councilman Godfrey, that Henry A. Weichhart
be appointed Councilman of the City of Alameda to take the place of Charles W. Broyles,
resigned. On roll call the motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Godfrey
Morris and Acting President Eschen,(3). Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Weichhart there-
upon executed his Oath of Office.
5. Councilman Morris moved that the regular order of business be resumed, seconded by
Councilman Godfrey and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen
Godfrey, Morris, Weichhart and Acting President Eschen,(4). Noes: None. Absent: None.
PROTESTS OR PETITIONS:
V 6. A petition containing 33 signatures of persons living in the vicinity of 1519
Broadway, requesting the opening of Webb Avenue through to Broadway. There being no
objection, the petition was ordered filed.
I 7. A petition containing 22 signatures of persons living in the vicinity of 1519
Boardway, protesting against the opening of Webb Avenue through to Broadway. There
being no objection, the petition was ordered filed.
1 S. A petition from the State of California Veterans' Welfar4 Board requesting can-
cellation of certain taxes now appearing on the tax records as a lien against property
owned by that Board in Alameda. There being no objection, this matter was referred
to a future meeting, under "Resolutions."
9. From the Board of Public Utilities attaching copy of its resolution transferring
$4000 from the Bureau of Electricity Fund to the General Fund and requesting the Council
to transfer this sum to the Bureau of Transportation Fund #1. There being no objection,
the communication was ordered filed, a resolution having been preparedfbr passage, under
"Resolutions".
✓ 10. From Bureau of Electricity, with attached copy of resolution transferring $286.20
from the Bureau of Electricity Fund to the General Fund as a dividend for buying electric
ranges for Fire Department. There being no objection, the communication was ordered
filed.
✓ 11. From ite & Pollard, requesting refund in amount of $34.00 covering deposit in

connection with proposed construction of oil station at 1801 Central Avenue. As the
amount of 20.00 has already been refunded by the Street Department, the remaining
amount of $14,00 remains to be returned. There being no objection, this matter was
deferred until "New Business".
/12. From League of California Municipalities, submitting bill for balance due of
$140.00 for Annual Service Charge for calendar year 1936. This matter was referred
to "New Business".
113. From Sherman G. Blood, former City Clerk of the City of Alameda, certifying to the
sufficiency of the petition for the recall against Hans W. Roebke as member of the Council
of the City of Alameda. There being no objection, the communication was ordered filed.
v14. From the City Planning Commission recommending to the Council the reclassifying
of property known as 913 Central Avenue from Residence District, Class 1, to Business
District, Class III, for the purpose of conducting a beauty parlor. Councilman Godfrey
moved that the recommendation of the City Planning Commission be adopted, seconded by
Councilman Morris, and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen
Godfrey, Morris, Weichhart and Acting President Eschen, (4). Noes: None. Absent:

requesting certain improvements and alterations in the present Armory at Washington
