1925-04-28 Special CC MinutesSPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA,
TUESDAY EVENING, APRIL 28TH, 1925.
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock p. m. with Council-president Otis presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Latham, Neiss, Noble, Probst and President
Otis, (5), were noted present.
The Clerk offered for filing, copy of the call for the special meeting and its
purpose. Also, affidavit of delivery of notices to each of the councilmen's addresses.
The Clerk read a copy of a communication to Major John W. N. Schulz, written
by the Department of Public Works of the City of Oakland, under date of April 18th,
pertaining to certain improvements in the outer and inner harbors, the tidal canal
and bridges of the Oakland Estuary. The City Manager explained the status of the
harbor survey as it now exists, and remarks were made by Capt. Pond, L. M. King,
W. R. Calcutt, C. Travers and Capt. Tibbitts. After discussion, Mr. Probst moved
that the council endorse the program as outlined in the letter, seconded by Mr.
Latham and on roll call carried unanimously. Mr. Otis stated that while voting
Yes in the endorsement of the program, as outlined, should an attempt be made
in the future to create a bonded indebtedness to purchase any rights of ways
covering the improvements outlined, he would oppose the same to the fullest extent.
There being no further business to transact the Council adjourned to meet
in regular session, Tuesday evening, May 5th, 1925, at 8 o'clock P. M.
