1925-10-06 Regular CC Minutes2.v REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA, TUESDAY EVENING, OCTOBER 6TH, 1925.. The meeting convened at 8 P. M. with Vice-president Probst presiding. The roll was called and Councilmen Latham, Neiss, Noble and Probst, (4) were noted present. Absent: Council-president Otis, (1). The minutes of the regular meeting of September 15th, 1925 were approved as read. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of September 22nd, 1925, were approved as read. Mr. Neiss introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 945. Transferring $6,375.00 from the Electric Light Fund to the Interest and Redemption Fund." Mr. Noble seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. Mr. Latham introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 946. Transferring $1929.13 from the Electric Light Fund to the General Fund." Mr. Neiss seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. Mr. Latham introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 947. Changing Names of Certain Railroad Stations." Mr. Noble seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. The following papers were ordered filed;-. 4.v' Continuation Certificate on the bond of C. J. Woodbury, M. E. L. P. Report of East Bay Municipal Utility District, as of October 3rd,1925. 6.1 Copy of contract, W K. Nottingham, repair of heating system of City Hall. 7.v/ Affidavit of mailing notices of hearing objections to report of Commissioners, under ResolUtion of Intention No. 78, N. S. (Opening Eagle Avenue). The following communications were redeived: 8.V From the Mayor, Auditor and City Accountant, re count of money. Ordered filed. 91 From the Alameda Improvement Club re car service between Oakland and. Alameda. 1r. Latham moved that the communication be referred to a meeting of the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Mr. Neiss and carried. From A. Feldhammer, protesting purchase of municipal golf course. In- asmuch as this communication had alreday been published in the daily papers, same was ordered filed. 10.1/ From the County Board of Supervisors, re bridges on United States Tidal Canal. Mr. Neiss moved that the Mayor and City Manager be appointed as a committee to represent the council at a conference to be held by the cities interested. The motion was seconded by Mr. Latham and carried. 12.V From the City Planning Commission recommending the denial of the appli cation for the reclassification of the northeast corner of Central Avenue and Walnut Street, from a Residence District, ClassII, to a Business District, Class III. Mr. Neiss moved that the recommendation of the Planning Commission be adopte4, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried. 141 The Clerk stated that he was in receipt of an application for a permit to sell soft drinks, signed by Ada Casaletto, with the request from the Chief of Police that the application be denied. Mr. Latham moved that the recommendation of the Chief of Police be sustained, seconded by Mr. Neiss and on roll call carried unanimously. In the matter of the hearing of protests on the opening of Eagle Avenue, set for this evening, City Attorney Locke stated that a conference had been held with the attorneys and property holders representing the protestants, and believed that an agreement could be reached without further public proceedings. Mr. Latham moved that further hearing be continued until the next regular meeting of the council to be held October, 20th, 1925, seconded by Mr. Neiss and carried. '15. 16. 17.V/ City Attorney Locke stated that the proposed golf course ordinance was now in preparation and would be submitted at the next meeting of the council. Mr. Latham moved that the council allow $250.00 as advertising expense to be used for the opening of the Encinal Terminals. The motion was seconded by Mr. Neiss and on roll call carried unanimously. Mr. Latham moved that Carl Werner be employed as architect for the new bungalow firehouse to be erected in the oast end, seconded by Mr. Neiss and on roll call carried unanimously. Claims against the General Departments amounting to 8613.37; Police Department 1282.84; Fire Department, $373.76; Street Department,- $5,094.03; Health Department 0130.76; Recreation Department, $266.18; StOre Department $21.43; Council Relief, $14.26; Health Center Fund, $132.00; Electric Light Fund $5,849.14; School Construction Fund $340.74 and Pension Fund $860.83 having been approved and audited b7 the proper officials were listed by the Clerk as follows: Labor Ader, Leon H. 11 Alameda Times Star IT American Law Book Co.
