1926-05-11 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA, TUESDAY EVENING, MAY11TH, 1926. The meeting convened at 8 P. M. with Council-president Otis presiding. The roll was called and. Councilmen Latham, Neiss, Noble, Traver and. Presi- dent Otis, (5) were noted present. Absent: None. Mr. Neiss moved that City Attorney Locke be appointed. City Clerk pro tem in the absence of Mr. Varcoe, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried. The city clerk pro tem read a communication from the City Attorney, accompanied by two warrants in the aggregate sum of $485.00, representing fines imposed by Judge Silver and collected by the county which under the law, are payable into the city treasury. There being no objection, the communication was ordered filed and the warrants deposited with the treasurer. The report of the special committee appointed on the matter of railroad tracks of the Alameda Belt Line on Buena Vista Avenue was received and read by the clerk pro tem and placed on file. The following ordinances were then introduced and laid over under a provision of the charter: By Mr. Latham. "Ordinance No. New Series. An Ordinance Alpending Sections 1 and 4 of Ordinance No. 273, (New Series) entitled "An Ordinance Granting to Alameda Belt Line, a Railroad Corporation, and its Successors and. Assigns, the Right to Use Portions of Certain Streets, Highways and Properties within the City of Alameda for the Purpose at the Acquisition, Construction, Maintenance and. Operation of a Belt Line Railroad to Serve the Industrial Area and. Water- front of said. City of Alameda, and the Right to Acquire, Construct, Maintain and Operate such Belt Line Railroad. Upon, Along and Across Designated Portions of said Streets, Highways and Properties", Adopted and passed by the Council February 3rd, 1925." By Mr. Traver. "Ordinance No. New Series. An Ordinance Authorizing and—rfrecting the Execution of an Agreement Between the City of Alameda, a Municipal Corporation on the One Hand, and the Western Pacific Railroad Company, the Atchison, Topeka and. Santa Fe Railway Company, and Alameda Belt Line, Rail- road. Corporations, on the Other, Amending and. Modifying the Agreement Dated December 15th, 1924, between said City of Alameda and the Two Railroad. Companies first above named, the Execution of which Agreement by said City was Authorized and Directed by Ordinance No. 259 (New Series), by changing the Provisions of said. Agreement with Relation to the Route of that Portion of the Railroad to be Constructed by Alameda Belt Line Between a Point in the Existing Track of Alameda Belt Line on Clement Avenue near Mintunr Street, and the Westerly line of Webster Street, so as to Eliminate all Requir ments that Any part of the Railroad to be Constructed shall be Located on the Sidewalk area of Buena Vista Avenue, and so as to Provide that the Portion of said. Railroad to be Constructed between Hibbard. Street and. Sherman Street may be Constructed Over, Along and. Upon Private Property." Mayor Otis then requested that he be relieved of the position as Director of the Alameda Belt Line. It was then moved by Mr. Neiss, seconded by ¥r. Traver, that his resignation as Director of the Belt Line be accepted, after which it was moved by Mr.NeiSs, seconded by Mr. Traver, that Mr. Latham be appointed to serve as Director on the Alameda Belt line, as representing the City of Alameda.
