1927-07-05 Regular CC MinutesREGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA,
TUESDAY EVENING, JULY 5TH, 1927.
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock with Council - president Otis presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Calcutt, Latham, Noble and President
Otis, (4) were noted present. Absent: Councilman Neiss, (1).
The minutes of the regular meeting of June 21st were approved as read.
Mr. Latham introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1150.
Transferring all Surplus Moneys to the
General Fund."
Mr. Noble seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
2. Mr. Latham introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1151.
Transferring $7,500.00 from the General Fund
to the Library Fund."
Mr. Noble seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was

Mr. Noble introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1152.
Transferring $1,000.00 from the General Fund
to the Initiative Relief Fund."
Mr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
Mr. Noble introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1153.
Transferring $1146.76 from the Pension Fund
to the General Fund."
Mr. Calcutt seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
Mr. Latham introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1154.
Cancelling Taxes on Certain Property Acquired
for School Purp es."
Mr. Noble seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
Mr. L. M. King was present in the council chamber and submitted blue prints
covering the alignment of the new Bay Farm Island Bridge, which alignment had al-
ready been approved by the City Planning Commission, and suggested that if agree-
able to the council, the council pass a motion adopting the alignment as shown. After
discussion, Mr. Latham so moved, seconded by Mr. Calcutt and carried unanimously.
The following papers were filed,:
Notice of the Filing of Assessment and the Time of Hearing, re Resolution
of Intention, No. 81, N. S. Improvement of Blanding Avenue.
Report of the Municipal Electric Light Plant for May, 1927.
Affidavit of publication of delinquent tax list.
The Clerk stated the time had arrived, according to published notice,
y9 V for the time of hearing of the protests uhder Resolution of Intention No. 81, N. S. and
that no written protests had been filed with him relative to the assessment for the
improvement of Blanding Avenue. Thereupon, Mr. Latham introduced and moved the
adoption of
"Resolution No. 1155.
Confirming Assessment on Appeal."
Mr. Noble seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted
and passed unanimously.
The following communications were received:
10.V From Dortheo Murkassel tb move a four -room bungalow from 1307 Buena Vista Avenue
to 1722 Buena Vista Avenue. Inasmuch as this request had received the approval of the
City Manager, Mr. Latham moved that permission be granted, seconded by Mr. Calcutt and
carried unanimously.
1 . From Heafey-Moore Company, requesting thirty day extension re Resolution of
Intention No. 81, N. S. relative to improvement of portions of Blanding Avenue. Mr.
Noble moved that the extension be granted, in accordance with the request, seconded
by Mr. Latham and carried unanimously.
121 From Goerge E. Gross, County Clerk, containing copy of opinion of the Dis-
trict Attorney, re Estuary bridges. Mr. Latham moved that the communication and
opinion be referred to the City Attorney, seconded by Mr. Calcutt and carried.
13/ From the City Manager, relative to boulevard stop signs in the Fernside
Tract. Ordered filed.
14. From the Pacific Coast Building Officials conference, requesting financial
assistance in preparation of uniform building code for Pacific coast cities.
Mr. Latham moved that this communication be referred to the City Manager for
report, seconded by Mr. Calcutt and carried unanimously.
15.1 From the Veterans Welfare Board requesting cancellation of certain taxes.
Mr. Noble moved that the communication be referred to the City Attorney and City
Assessor,seconded by Mr. Latham and carried.
16. Various applications for pennits to sell sfot drinks were received, and in-
asmuch as they had been approved and recommended by the Chief of Police, Mr. Noble
introduced and moved the adoption of

Mr. Calcutt seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
The following ordinances came up for passage and were read by the Clerk:

Mr. Calcutt moved that consideration of the passage of this ordinance be postponed until
the next regular meeting of the council to be held July 19th, 1927. Mr. Latham seconded
the motion and on roll call carried unanimously.

Mr. Latham moved that when the council adjourn it does so to meet in adjourned

and carried.
There being no further business to transact the Council adjourned to meet in
adjourned regular session, Tuesday evening, July 12th, 1927 at 8 o'clock.
