1930-06-24 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA,
TUESDAY EVENING, JUNE 24TH, 1930.
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock P. W. with Vice - president Caloutt, presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Brodersen, Henning, Latham and Vice-
president Calcutt, (4) were noted present. Absent : - President Schaefer, (1).
A communication was received from the Board of Education, requesting that
James. Fogarty, a member thereof, be permitted to absent himself from the state for
a period of thirty days, beginning July 3rd, 1930. Mr. Brodersen moved that the
requested be granted, seconded by 4r. Latham and carried unanimously.
2. \/ The City Engineer submitted to the council his assessment sheet under Reso-
lution of Intention No. 92, N. S., re Park Street lighting. Ordered filed.
3/ An invitation was received from the Washington Peri Flagpole Dedication
Committee, inviting the council to participate in the ceremonies on Sunday, duns
29th. Mr. Brodersen moved the invitation be accepted and the Council attend. The
motion was seconded and Mr. Latham and carried unanimously.
4.v was then held relative to the various propositions to be placed
upon the ballot at the proposed special election to be held Tuesday, August 26th.
After discussion, Mr. Latham moved that the charter amendments as shown in the
proposed Resolution be adopted. The motion was seconded by Mr. Calcutt and or
roll call was lost by the following vote : - Ayes: Councilmen Caibutt and Latham,
(2). Noes: Councilmen Brodersen and Henning, (2). Absent: Council- president
Schaefer, (1).
/ Mr. Latham moved that Proposition No. 9, relative to the City of Alameda operating
and maintaining a municipal bus transportation system be adopted. The motion was
seconded by Mr. Calcutt and on roll call lost by the ,following vote : - Ayes:
Councilmen Calcutt and Latham, (2). Noes: Councilmen Brodersen and Henning, (2).
Absent: Council- president Schaefer, (1).
Mr. Latham moved that Proposition No. 10, relative to the City of Alameda granting
and conveying to the United States of America, fifteen acres on Government Island
be adopted. This motion failed for want of a second.
Mr. Henning then moved that further consideration of Proposition No. 10, be laid over
v until the next regular meeting of the Council, to be held July 1st, 1930. The
motion was seconded by Mr. Brodersen and carried unanimously.
5. There being no further business to transact the Council adjourned to meet
in regular session, Tuesday evening, July lst, 1930 at 8 o'clock.
