The meeting convened at 8 P. Y. with Council-president Otis presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Adams, Latham, Probst, Tilden and President
Otis, (5) were noted present. Absent: None.
The minutes o the regular meeting o December 18th, 1923 were approved as
read.

The minutes of the special meeting of December 28th, 1923 were approved as
Mr. Latham introduced the following He solution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 702,
Transferring ;2391.69 From the Electric Light Fund
to the General Fund..'
Mr. Probst seconded the motion to adapt the Fe solution and on roll call it was adopt-
ed and passed unanimously.
2.V Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 703.
Transferring 450.00 from the Electric Light Fund
to the Gene-al Fund."
Mr. Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
3./ Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 704.
Adopting Plana and Specifications."
(New Fire House.)
Mr. Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
4.\ Mr. Probst moved that the City Clerk advertise for bids. for the co
of the fire house to be opened. January 15, 1924, seconded by Mr. Latham and

carried.
5.1/ The following was received:

Ordered filed.
The following-communications were received:
6.1 From Mayor Frank Otis appointing H. D. Maynard as a member of the Board
of Education, to succeed Charles Y. Cadman, resigned. Ordered filed..
From Mayor Frank Otis reappointing- Augu tus C. Keane as a member of the
City Planning Commission, Ordered. filed..
8. V From the Mayor, Auditor and City Manager, re count of money. Ordered
filed.
9.V From Gordon, Rowe Company, re audit of books. Ordered filed..
Mr. Probst introduced the following Resolution and moved. its adoption:
"Resolution No. 705.
In Memory of Oswald. Lubbock."
January 2nd, 1924.
A Bill entitled

came up for passage and was read by the Clerk. Mr. Probst moved that the Ordinance
be adopted, seconded by Mr. Latham and on roll call it Was adopted and passed,
unanimously.
12.V In the matter of the hearing of the widening of Park Street, under Resolution
of Intention No. 68, New aeries, after discussion Mr. Tilden moved that further
hearing be continued until the next regular meeting of the Council, to be held
January 15, 1924, seconded by Mr. Latham and carrie
13.1 In the matter of the hearing on Webster Street Grade, under Resolution of
Intention No. 66, N. S., Er. Tilden moved that further hearing be continued
until the regular meeting of the Council to be held March 4, 1924., seconded by
Mr. Latham and carried.
14 In the matter of the app ion of the Americen edging Company for a
permit to deposit dredged materials on the property known as the Liberty Yard,
Alameda, previously referred to the City Manager and City Attorney, Messrs.
Tyson and Tichenor were present and addressed the Council regarding same.
After discussion, Mr. Tilden moved that upon the recommendation of the City
Manager, it be the sense of the Council upon the presentation two weeks hence
of the rights of way for a pole line for the Municipal Electric Light Plant
through the Liberty Shipyard, the Alaska Packers' property and through the
property of H. L. Page, and also the presentation of a copy of the contract
of the purchasers of the Liberty Shipyard with the United States Government,
that permission be granted the American Dredging Company, in accordance with
their application, under the provisions of Ordinance No. 91, New Series,
:seconded by Mr. Latham and carried.
151 Mr. Latham tated that the Health Center Buildihg would be officially
opened on Saturday, January 12 'and extended an invitation to the members of the
Council to be present at that time. Mr. Probst moved that the invitation be
'accepted, seconded by Mr. Tilden and carried.
16.V In the matter of the opening of certain streets in the West End of
Alameda in the Woodstock Tract, Mr. Tilden moved that it be made a special order
of businesP for the meeting of the Councii to be held February 5, 1924, seconded
by Mr. Latham and carried.

04.07; against the Street Department amounting to 1944.98; against the Health
Department amounting to e?207.85; against the Recreation Depnrtment amounting to
