1924-07-01 Regular CC Minutes10 2.‘7 3./ REGULAR MEET NG OF THE COUNCIL 02 THE CITY OF ALAMEDA, TUESDAY EVENING, JULY 1, 1924, The meeting convened at 8 o'clock with Vice-president Probst presiding. The roll was called and Councilmen Adams, Latham, Tilden and Vice-president Probst (4), were noted present. Absent Council-president Otis, (1). The minutes of the regular meeting of June 17 h were approved as read. The following were received: Contracts for Lincoln School addition. Ordered filed. The following communications were received: From the Board of Education with badRet estimates for the year 1924-1925. Ordered filed. From E. C. Emmons, requesting permission to lay a spur track on south side of Clement Avenue, easterly from Everett Street. Er. Latham moved that the request be referred to the City Manager with power to act, seconded by Ifir. Tilden and carried. Latham introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution Uo. 776. Transferring :1,51,000.00 from the General Fund to the Council Relief Fund, and 500.00 from the General Fund to the Initiative Relief Fund.' Mr. Adams seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. Mr. Adams introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 777. Transferring' :,5,000.00 from the General Fund to the Library Fund." Er. Tilden seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution d on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. 14.1 Mr. Latham introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution 1:o. 778. 1 5 . Mr. Tilden seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. Tilden introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 779. Fixing the Salary of the Deputy Auditor." LIr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was cadopted and passed unanimously. 1 6V The Clerk stated that in response to the .;otice to Wreckers of Buildings, re Sherman Street Firehouse, he was in receipt oI three bids. Mr. Latham moved that the bids be opened and read, seconded by Li'. Tilden and carried. Thereupon the Clerk opened and read the bids as follows:- From Clopton Wrecking Co. 165.00 Accompanied by check for 80.00. From Symon Bros. 150.00 Accompanied by :1775.00 in currency. From Bradford. Wrecking Co. 120.00 Accompanied by check of 60.00. Yr. Latham moved that the Clopton Wrecking Company be awarded the bid and that the checks be returned to the unsuccessful bidders, seconded by Mr. Tilden and on roll call carried unanimously. In the matter of the hearing of protests under Resolution No. 70, N. S., re Washington Street, the Clerk stated he was in receipt of four written protests and proceeded to read the same. The City Engineer stated that the protests represented less than fifty percent of the frontage involved and after discussion Mr. Adams introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 780., Resolution Overruling "I'rotest. (Washington Street) Mr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. ie. 7 A petition purported to be sighed by eleven citizens calling attention to a 19. 20.( nuisance maintained at 3244 Briggs Avenue, was read by the Clerk. Mr. Latham moved that the matter be referred to the City Manager to report back to the Council, seconded by Mr. Adams and carried. A Bill entitled "A Bill For Ordinance No. -, -New Series. Reclassifying l'roperty. (Church) came up for passage and was read by the Clerk. Mr, Latham moved that the Ordinance be adopted, seconded by Tilden and on roll call it was adopted and passed by the following vote, to-wit: Ayes:: Councilmen Latham, Tilden and Vice-president Probst, (3). Noes: Councilman Adams, (1). Absent: Council-president Otis, (1). A Bill entitled For "A Bill Ordinance No. New Series. An Ordinance Providing for the Regulating and -4. Mr. Latham moved that the matter lay over to the next meeting of the Council, to be held. July 15th, 1924, seconded by Mr. Adams and carried. 22.1i A Bill entitled For "A Bill Ordinance No. New Series. An Ordinance Providing for Vacations for Salaried. Officers and Employees of the City Government, also for Absence from Duty in Case of Sickness or Injury." came up for passage. Mr. Latham moved that the matter lay over to the next meeting of the Council, to be held July 15th, 1924, seconded by Mr. Adams and carried.
