TUESDAY EVEVIEG, FEBRUARY 6TH, 1923.
The meeting convened at 8:10 o'clock P. M. with Council—president Otis presiding-.
The roll was called. and. Councilmen Adams, Latham, Probst, and President Otis, (4)
were noted present. Absent: Councilman Tilden, (1)
The minutes of the regular meeting of January 16th, 1923 were approved as
read.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of January 23rd were approved as
read.
The following were received:
11/ Bond of F. R. McNamara as Clerk of Justice Court. Ordered filed.
2 V Report of the Municipal Electric Light Plant for the month of October , 1922.
Ordered filed.
3 v Report of the Industrial Railroad for the six months ending December 31st,
1922. Ordered filed..
The following communications were received:
4 V From the Alameda :Jomans Improvement ClUb, re staking of cows and goats at
Atlantic Street and. Central Avenue. hr. . Latham moved that the matter be referred to
the City Manager, seconded by Mr. Probst and carried.
5V From numerous residents of Bay Street, between San Antonio Avenue and
San Francisco Bay, requesting the installation of a fire alarm bOx within the
block. hr. Latham moved that the matter be referred to the City Manager, with
instructions to install same, seconded by hr. Probst and carried.
51 From the Pacific Telephone and. Telegraph Company, showing gross receipts
for the year ending December 31st, 1922. Ordered filed.
From the Mayor, Auditor and. City Manager, re count of money in the city
treasury. Ordered filed.
8 V From Baker, Hansen Manufacturing Company, requesting the refund. of 09.50
tax penalty. Mr. Probst moved that the City Clerk be instructed to communicate with
the Baker—Hansen Manufacturing Company, stating that the matter in question was
between the buyer and seller and not a matter for council action, seconded by
Yr. . Latham and car r ie d .
hr. Probst introduced the following Resolution and. moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 598.
Transferring 2,567.48 from the Electric Light Fund
to the General Fund."
Mr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call carried
unanimously.
10 V hr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 599.
Transferring 0900.00 from the Electric Light Fund
to the General Fund."
Mr. Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.

recanmended by m. H. Wahmuth, Chief of Police. Lir. Probst moved. that the request
be granted, seconded by Hr. Latham arad on Tell call carried unanimously.
The Clerk stated that he was in receipt of a request for a gratuitous license
to take orders and sell a windshield_ wiper and a pocket wrench, signed. by George
F. Coombes, 1351 Versailles Avenue; that the request had received. the endorsement
and was recommended by Wm. F. Wahmuth, Chief of Police. Mr. Probst moved. that
the request be granted, seconded. by Lir. Latham and on roll call carried. unanimously.
hr. Latham intro due ed the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 600.
Resolution of Intention No. 66, New Series."
(Re Webster Street Grade.)
. Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed. unanimously.
14/ Lir. Adams introduced the following- Resolution d. moved. its adoption:
"Resolution No. 601
Refunding- Delinquent Tax Penalty to Asenath
Mr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted
and passed. unanimously.
15 d ivir. . Latham intro duced the following Resolution and moved its adoption :
'Resolution No. 502.
Resolution Authorizing Transfer of Property to High School
District."'
Lir . Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted
and passed unanimously.
16V The Clerk stated that action of the council reclassifying the property sitated.
on the southwest corner of 1..?illow Street and Clinton Avenue, which was postponed,
on adcount of the Writ of Prohibition served on members of the council, to this
date was before them for action. LIT. Latham moved. that all proceedings be dropped,
seconded by Mr. Probst and carried.
17V The Clerk stated. that he was in receipt of a petition purported. to be
signed by 1880 electors of the City of Alameda, calling for a referendum on
Ordinance No, 227, New Series, commonly known as the Zoning Ordinance, recently
passed. byth.e Council; that this petition was at the present time being checked.
and that he would be in a position to report to the Council on Friday, February
9th, 1923. Mr . Latham moved that when the Council ad.journ, it adjourn to meetrin
adjourned. regular meeting on Friday evening, February 9th, 1923, at 8 o'clock P.L%
seconded by Nir • Probst and carried.
18 Lir. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 603.
Resolution to Amend. Zone Ordinance."
Lir • Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted. and passed. unanimously.
19 In the matter of the hearing of Versailles Avenue opening, Mr. Probst moved
that the matter be postponed to the next regular meeting of the Council to be held.
Tuesday evening, February 20th. 1923, seconded b:v ivlr. Latham carried.

to $236.66; against the Initiative Relief fund amounting to $92.50; against the Electric
