From the Board of .miucation petition the counc to remit city tales for the year 1.923-1924 on recently acquired high school property. hr. Latham uoved that the matter 1)e reforred to the City Attorney to report back to the Council at its next meeting, se onded by Ur. Probst and carried. 9. Copy of letter from W. Danvers, re increase in taxes. Ordered filed. 10.V From the American Dredging Company requesting permission to dump re&gecl materials on Tract 30, knovm as Liberty Ehipyard, Ur. Latham moved that the request be referred to the Gity Kanager and City Attorney for investigation, seconded by Mr. Tilden and carried. 110V From the Alameda Chamber of Gomrerce, re installation of colored lights to designate street intersections. Ur. August Freese wa in the Council Chamber and called attention to the absence of lights at the foot of Ninth Street making it dangerous for automobile traffic. Ur. Latham moved that both matters be referred to the Board of Public Utilities for con -' aeration, seconded by hr. Probst and carried. 12. V From the Alameda Improvement Club re tube c onstruction. Ur. Latham and carried. December 18, 1923. 1-. Prom City Attorney Locke re conference with the Railroad Commission regarding improvement of transportation facilities in the City of Alameda. Mr. Tilden moved that the matter be referred to the Mayor, City Dinager and City Attorney with the request that they arrange for a conference with representatives of the people from various parts of Alameda and to report back to the Council, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried.. From the San Francisco-Oakland Terminal Railuays containii application for a bus line in the West End. Lir. Tilden moved that the 0,141i- cation be referred to the Mayor, City Manager and. City Attorney, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried. 16V Prom the Peerless Peerlees Stages, Iac0, requesting further time to submit proposition of busses in the West Ella in detail. This also was referred to the Committee consisting of the Mayor, City Manap,er and. City Attorney. A Bill entitled "A. Bill Regulating the Operation of L'otor Busses upon the Streets of the City of Alameda when such Busses are run in Connection with and Auxilliary to a Street Railroad." carne up for passage. Er. Latham moved that the passage of the Ordinance be postponed. until the report o± the Committee consisting of the Mayor, City Yianager and City Attorney -iled with the Council, seconded by Yr. Tilden and carried.. In the matter of the hearing of the widening f Park Street, the Clerk ated that a petition of protest had been filed. Messrs. E. K. Taylor, H. Bennett, ;I. R. Calcutt and. E. R. Neiss addressed the Council and after dis- cussion, Mr. Latham moved that further hering be postponed until the next regular meeting of the Council to be held aednesday evening, January 2nd,1923, seconded by Mr. Probst and carried. Councilman Adams suggested that the Committee consisting of The Iiayor, City Manager and. City Attorney take up with the San Francisco-Oakland Terminal Railways the matter of double tracking the car line on Park treet. trata: See pa7e289. 20./ A Bill entitled "A Bill For Ordinance No ')c\'-„ N. C. An Ordinance Providing for the Removal or Destruction of Dry Grass, Vreeds, Rubbish, Unsafe Trees or Other Vegetable Matter from Private Property or the Sidewalks in Front Thereof." was introduced, read by the Clork.ThereUpoh: Mr. Probst moved:that:they Ordinance be adopted, seconded by Yr. Adams and on roll call adopted and passed unan imously. 21.V Messrs. H. 'ailliams, of the Merchants Exchange, R. 0. 5trehlow and. E. R. ITeiss, addressed the Council requesting them to make an approriation for advertising )urposes to place a float in the -.Cew Years Eve parade to be held in Oakland.. After general discussion, Mr. Tilden moved that the matter be submitted, seconded by Mr. Probst and carried.
