REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OP THE CITY OF ALAMEDA,
TUESDAY ETTTING, MARCH 21ST, 1922.
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock with Council-President Otis presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Adams, Latham, Probst, Tilden and.
President Otis (5) were noted present. Absent: None.
The minutes of the regular meeting of March 7th, 1922 were approved as
read.
The Clerk presented considerable ark data which was ordered filed.
Mr. Probst introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 471.
Transferring 600.00 from the Electric Light Fund
to the General Fund."
Mr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
The following communications were received:
From lill Phillips, re installation of tennis courts in the proposed
new park. Ordered filed.
From George R. Walker, re issuing of permits to solicitors within tip
City of Alameda. Ordered filed.
The clerk stated that he was in receipt of a petition for the reclassify-
ing bf the property situated at 1409 Ninth Street, from a Single Family Dwelling
District, Class I, to a Flat, etc. District, Class II; that notices had been
posted in accordance with Ordinance No. 144, New Series and amendments thereto
and that no protests had been received. Er. Milliken, representing Mrs. Clara
Arbogast the petitioner, was present. There being no objectors present in the
council chamber Er. 7?robst introduced the following Resolution and moved its
adoption:
"Resolution No. 472.
Reclassifying the Property Situate at 1409 Ninth
Street, to a Class II,Flat etc District."
Mr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it
was adopted and passed unanimously.

Ordinance No. New Series.
Prohibiting Fireworks in the City of Alameda."
was introduced and laid over under a provision of the Charter.
hr. Probst suggested that the police department be instructed to notify
dealers handling fireworks inthe City of Alameda of the contemplated passage
of the ordinance at the next council meeting, so as to prevent their purchasing
fireworks for re-sale.
In the matter the petition of the Pacific Hog Company, for recision
and cancellation of their contract for the purchase of garbage, lir. Latham
moved that the petition be denied, seconded by Lr. Probst and carried unanimously.
March 21st,1922.
8/ Plans and specifications for the erection of a Comfort Cornfort Station at Washington
Park prepared by Carl Werner, Architect, was submitted by the City Manager. Mr.
Probst moved that the plans and specifications be adopted and that the City Clerk
advertise for bids for the erection of same, to be opened at the regular meeting
of the Council to be held April 4th, 1922, seconded by hr. Latham and on roll call
carried unanimously.
9/ In the matter of the printing of the booklet of the Chamber of Commerce,
Yr. Latham moved that on account of the reorganization of the Chamber of Commerce
at the present time the matter lay over for two weeks, seconded by Mr. Adams and
carried.

. Tilden moved that the City ngineer be instructed to establish set-back
lines in accordance with Ordinance No. 207, New Series, at the earliest possible
moment, seconded by Mr. Probst and carried.
Claims against the General Departments amounting to 732.87; against the
Police Department amounting to )109.09; against the Fire Department amounting to
295.44; against the Street Department amounting to ft384.53; against the Health
Department amounting to 53.48; against the Recreation Department amounting to
332.20; against the Store Department amounting to 402.10; against the Relief
Fund amounting to 494.62; against the Electric Light Fund amounting to 44, 353.41
having been approved and audited by the proper officials were listed by the Clerk

Mr. Latham moved that the council adjourn to meet in adjourned regular
meeting Monday evening, March 27th, 1922 at 8 o'clock, sec,.?nded by Mr. Probst
and carried.
There being no further business o transact the Council adjourned to meet
in adjourned regular meeting, Monday, March 27th, 1922, at 8 o'clock P. M.
