1922-08-15 Regular CC Minutes2/ REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL QF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA, TUESDAY EVENING, AUGUST 15TH, 1922. The meeting convened at 8:10 P. M. with Council-president Otis presiding - The roll was called and. Councilmen Latham, Probst and. President Otis', (3) were noted present. Absent: Councilmen Adams and. Tilden, (2). The minutes of the regular meeting of August 1st, 1922 were approved as read. Mr. Probst introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No 537 Transferring $500.00 from the General Fund to the Initiative Relief Fund." Mr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. Mr. Latham, introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 538. Transferring 5000.00 from the General Fund to the Library Fund." Mr. Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. 3/ Mr. Probst introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 539. Transferring All Surplus Moneys to the General Fund." Mr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously'. 4' Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 540. Creating the "Compensation Insurance Fund" and Transferring 42997.07 from the General Fund to the Compensation Insurance Fund." June, 1922. Ordered filed. The following communication was received: From the Board of Education with copy of budget attached. Mr. Probst moved that the matter be referred to the Committee of the /hole, seconded by Mr. Lath and carried. 11/ A Bill entitled For "A Bill Ordinance No. New Series. Amending Ordinance No. 144, New Series, "An Ordinance Establishing Districts or Regulating Therein the Use of Property, Buildings, and. Required. Open Spaces for Ventilation of Such Buildings." August 15th, 1922. entitled. Zones and. Height of Light and Mr. Probst moved that the matter be referred to the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried. 12, A Bill entitled 13/ For "A Bill Ordinance No. New Series. Amending Section n 13 of Ordin ce No. 96, New Series, entitled "An Ordinance Ciieating a Firemen's Relief and Pension Fungby providing for the Payment of Pensions Monthly instead of Quarterly." was introduced and laid over under a provision of the Charter. A Bill entitled For "A Bill Ordinance No. New Series. Amending Section 13 of Ordinance No. 97, New Series, entitled an Ordinance "Creating a Police, Relief,Health and. Pension Fund", by providing for the payment of Pensions Monthly instead of Quarterly." was introduced and laid over under a provision of the Charter. 14/ , City Manager Hickok report regarind the purchase of the Carpentier property for the enlarging of Franklin Park. Mr. Latham moved that the matter be referred to the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Mr. Probst and carried. 15' The City Manager informed the Council that the Southern Pacific Company desired to install a curb along its right of way at the east end of Ehainal Avenue. Mr. Latham moved that the matter be referred to the City Manager with power to act, seconded by Mr. Probst and carried. Mr. Latham moved that the City Manager be granted two weeks vacation, commencing August 19th, 1922, seconded by Mr. Probst and carried. Mr. Latham moved that City Clerk, W. E. Varcoe, be appointed acting City Manager during the City Manager's absence, seconded by Mr. Probst and carried.
