1921-10-18 Regular CC MinutesREGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA, TUESDAY EVENING, ,OCTOBER 18TH, 1921. The Conrcil convened at 8:15 P. M. with President Otis presiding The roll was called and Councilmen Adams, Latham, Tilden and. President Otis, (4) were noted present. Absent: Councilman Probst, (1). The minutes of the meeting of October 4, 1921 were approved as read. The following were received: Notice of Sale of real property, under Resolution of Intention No. 60, New Series. Ordered filed. 2, v/ Copy of Order,amending findin.z and award on stipulation re Charles W. Young, deceased. Ordered filed. The following communications were received: From Wm. J. Locke, City Attorney, relative to the 1:20 A. M. boat from San Francisco and trains connecting therewith. Mr. Tilden moved that it be the sense of the council that the matter be left in the hands of the City Attorney to get the best results for the entire city of Alameda, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried. From the Alameda Improvement Club inviting the Council to attend a debate upon the question of consolidated city and county government. On motion of Mr. Latham, seconded by Mt. Tilden and carried, the invitation was accepted. The Clerk reported that City Manager C. E. Hickok recotmended that the application of the Elim Home for permission to erect a tent for the purpose of holding gospel meetings be denied. Mr. Latham moved that the recommendation of the City Manager be adopted, seconded by Mr. Tilden and carried. 6v In the matter of the application of Wm. Hughes, 2124 San Jose Avenue, for a gratuitous license, Mr. Adams moved that the application be denied, seconded by Mr. Tilden and carried. Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 428. Rescinding Proceedings in Re Versailles Avenue Opening." Mr. Adams seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 429. Resolution of Intention No. 62, New Series." (Versailles Ave. Opening.) Mr. Tilden seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 430. Confirming Report on Steccone damages." Mr. Adams seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. 10 / Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption October 18th,1921. Execute a Supplementary Contract Relative to the Disposal of Garbage." Mr. Adams seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanizIously-. A Bill entitled 'VI Bill For Ordinance No. New Series. Reclassifying Property Situated at 1543 Everett Street to a Class VI, Hospital District Mr. Tilden moved that the ordinance be adopted, seconded by Mr. Latham and on roll call carried unanimously. Claims against the General Departments amounting to $391.55; against the Police Department amounting to $186.14; against the Fire Department amounting to $155.48; against the Street Department amounting to $1556.89; against the Health Department amounting to $82.59; against the Recreation Department amounting to 356.62; against the Relief Fund amounting to 0123.09-i against the Electric Light Fund amounting to 08243.46; against the Sewer Cohstruction Fund amounting $219.50 having been approved and audited by the proper officials were listed by the Clerk as follows: Alameda Steam Laundry Assn. Mr. Latham moved that the council take a recess for a half hour, seconded by Mr. Tilden and carried. Mr. Latham moved that the council reconvene, seconded by Mr. Tilden and carried. Mr. Latham moved that the council adjourn to meet in regular adjourned session, Thursday evening, October 20th, 1921 at 7:30 o'clock., seconded by Mr. Adams and carried. There being no further business to transact the council adjourned to meet in adjourned regular meeting, Thursday evening, October 20th, 1921, at 7:30 o'clock.
