1921-12-13 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETIPG OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAEEDA, TUESDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 13TH 1921. The meeting convened at 8:25 P. ;. with Council-president Otis presiding. The roll was called and Councilmen Adams, Latham, Probst, Tilden and President Otis, (5) were noted present. Mr. Latham moved that Hazel B. Dudgeon be appointed City Clerk pro tem, in the absence of City Clerk W. E. Varcoe, seconded by Mr. Probst and carried. Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 439. Authorizing the Auditor and the Treasurer to Pay Salaries of Officials and Employees." Mr. Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. 2;/ Mr. Tilden introduced the following Resolution and moved its option: "Resolution No. 440. Fixing the Salaries of the Officers and Members of the Fire Department of the City of Alameda." Hr. Adams seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Adams, Tilden and President Otis, (3). Noes: Councilmen La ham and Probst (2). Absent: None. Mr. Tilden introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 441 Fixing the Salaries of the Officers and Membei's of the Police Department of the City of Alameda.' Mr. Adams seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed by the following vote:- Ayes: Councilmen Adams, Tilden and President Otis, (3). Noes: Councilmen Latham and Probst, (2). Absent: Hone. 4V Mr. Adams introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 442. Fixing Salaries of the Following Officers and Employees of the City of Alameda to wit: The Deputy Auditor, the Deputy Assessor, the Stenographer to the Auditor and Assessor, Building Inspector, Stenographer to the City Attorney, City Clerk, Stenographer to the City Clerk, Janitor of the City Hall, City Manager, Stenographer to the City Manager, Stenographer to the City Council, Veterinary and Food Inspector, Sanitary Inspector, Bacteriologist, Clerk of the Health Department, Health Visitor, Superintendent of the Recreation Department, Head Gardener of the Recreation Department, Gardeners of the Recreation Department, Street Superintendent and Fx-officio City Engineer, Clerk of the Street Department, Assistant City Engineer, Foreman of the Street Department, Deputy Treasurer and Tax Collector." • Tilden seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed by the following vote; Ayes: Councilmen Adams, Tilden and President Otis, (3). Noes: Councilmen Latham and Probst, (2). Absent: None. December 13th, 1921. The following communications were received: From City Clerk of East San Diego, re enforcement of speed regulations within corporate limits of municipalities. Ordered filed. From D. J. Clark, complaining of acts of members of the Police Department. Referred *to the City Manager. In the matter of the further hearing-on the petition of the Associated Oil Company, for the reclaasification of the lot on the northeast corner of Park Street and Webb Avenue, Mr. Tilden introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 443. Reclassifying "he Property Situate at the Northeast Corner of Webb Avenue and Park Street, from a Class III to a Class V, District." Mr. Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed by the following vote: Ayes: Couhcilmen Adams, Probst Tilden and President Otis, (4). Noes: Councilman Latham, (1). Absent:None. A Bill entitled For "A Bill Ordinance No. New Series. Reclassifying Portions of Lots 1 and 2, in Block 1, of Pacific Land Investmerit 0o.rs Tract Near Morton Street Station, to a Class III, Business District." came up for passage and was read by the Clerk. Yr. Latham moved that the ordinance be adopted, seconded by Mr. Probst and on roll cal_, it was adopted and passed. unanimously. A Bill entitled "A Bill For Ordinance No. New Series, An Or Amending Or No. 68, N. 5., entitled mAn Ordinance Providing for the Regulation of the Busi- ness of Using, Operating and Driving Automobiles for Hire Upon the Public Streets of the City of Alameda, Providing for Licenses to Carry on such Business and for the Revocation Thereof, Fixing the Amoung of License Fees to be Paid, Requiring the Furnishing of Bonds, Making the Violation of any of the Provisions. of This Ordinance a Misdemeanor and Providing a Penalty Therefor, and Re- pealing all Ordinances or Parts of Ordinances in so Far as the same may be in Conflict Herewith", by Adding Another Section Thereto to be known as Section 13 Thereof, Authorizing the Operating of Motor Vehicles for Hire in Territory Not Served by Street Railway Transportation.' Mr. Latham moved that the ordinance be adopted, seconded by Mr, Probst and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. The mater of taking out a Forgery Bond Policy was referred to the City 10v M,nagerto report back at the next meeting of the Council.
