OF ALAME'A, TUESDAY ETENING,JULY 16,1920.
The meeting convened au 6:15 p. m. with Council-president Otis presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Adams, Lathan Probst, Tilden and President
Otis, (5) were noted present. Absent: None.
In the absence of Wm, E. Varcoe, City Olerk, I1r0 Irobstmoved that Miss
H. B. Dudgeon be appointed City Clerk pro tem, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried.
Mr. Probst introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
Resolution NO. 3150
Changing Premise Known as 2016 Encinal Avenue
From a Cl ,s I to a Class II District."
Jv1r Tilden seconded the motion to adoet the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted
and eassed unanimously.
As this was the time set for the discussion of ways and means for relieving the
congestion in automobile transportation between the oast bay cities and SLn Francisco
Mr. Latham moved that the council resolve itself into a committee of the whole to
consider the same seconded by Mr. Irot and carried.
Upon reconvening Councilmen Adams, Latham,Irobst,Tilde President Otis,
were noted present.
Mayor Louis Bartlett of Berkeley addressed the council requesting the coee
operation of the City of Alameda in the employment of a certified public accountant
to determine the cost of distribution of milk in Berkeley, Oakland. and Alameda.
Mr. Tilden moved that the inatter of an aepropriation not to exceed ''75.00 per month
for a period of six months, be referred to the city manager, seconded by Mr. Probst
and oarried.
A communication was received from the Alameda Diforovement Club submitting
proposed amendments to the charter. Mr. Tilden moved they be laid on the table,
seconded.. by Mr. Probst and carried.
I% resolution containing six proposed. araendments to the charter of the City
of ameda was presented. Mr. Tilden moved that Propositions Nos. 3 and 4 having to
do with the salary of the auditor and the salary of the treasurer be submitted to the
electors as follows:
PROPOSITION NO. 3.
Section 1. AUDITOR. An auditor shall be elected at the
general municipal election. He shall hold office for our
years, and until his successor is elected and qualified. He
shall be ex officio assessor. His compensation for acting
in both capacities shall be fixed by the council. He may
appoint one or more deputies, for whose acts he and his
bondsmen shall be responsible.
PROPOSITION NO. 4.
Section 10. TREASURER. A treasurer shall be elected
at the general munjcipal election. He shall hold office
for four years, and until his successor is elected and
qtalified. He shall be ex officio tax collector. His
compensation for acting in both capacities shall be
fixed by the council. He may appoint one or more deputies
for whose acts he and his bondsmen shall be responsible.
Probst seconded the motion and )n roll call it was passed by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Adams Latham Probst and Tilden, (4). Noes:President Otis, (1),
Absent:None.

Mr. Latham moved that the council adjourn to meet in adjourned regular meeting
Friday evening, July 16th, 1920 at 8 o'clock, seconded by Mr. Prob t and carried.
There being no further business to transact the council adjourned to meet in
adjourned regular meeting Friday evening, July 16th, 1920 at 8 o'clock.
