1911-06-09 Regular CC MinutesJune 9th, 1011. ADJOU:1NED REGULAR MEETING OF TH1] COUNCIL OF TH CITY OF ALAMEDA, FRIDAY, JUNE 9TH, 1.911. The meeting convened with Mayor W. H, Noy presiding. The roll was called and. Councilmen Christensen, Krumb, Hammond, Spence, Probst and Bullock (7) were noted present and Councilmen Walker and Morgenstern absent. Claims against the General Fund amounting to 16.75 and against the Park and Playground Fund amount to 127,75 having been approved and audited by the proper officials were read by the Clerk as follows:- GENERAL FUND. VT Printing Alameda Daily Argus 9 4.00 6.75 11 9 9 9 6.00 Total - -4; 16.75 PARK & PLAYGROUND FUND. Alameda Daily Argus Printing $ 12.75 Eahenberger, Emil Labor 15.0 Total - 27.75 Mr. Bullock moved that the claims be paid as read, seconded by Mr. Christensen and carried by the following vote :- Ayes :Councilmen Christensen, Krnmb, Hanmond, Spence, E11s Probst end Bullock, (7). Noes :None, Absent :Councilmen ;':alker and Morgenstern, (2). VI Ti Ti A communication was received from John Biddle, Colonel, Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army, stating that contracts had been entered into for the repair of the Fruitvale Avenue bridge and that arrangements would be made in the near future to make the necess- ary repairs to the Perk Street bridge. Ordered filed, The oath of office of W. H, L. Hynes as Police and. Fire Commissioner was present- ad ordered filed.. The matter of the report of the Finance Committee recommending thet water rates for the year 1911-1912 be fixed as follows: Meter rate, 50V per M. gallons; hydrants 1.00 per month; minimum rate ;;1.00 per month, laid over from the meeting of June 6th was taken up. Mr, Hammond moved that the report be adopted, seconded by Mr. Spence. Councilman Morgenstern arrived and was noted present. Mr. Christensen moved to amend by laying the matter over until the next regular meeting of the Council on June 20th, 1911, seconded by Mr, Probst. General discussion of the matter was entered into by Councilmen Probst, Bullock, Morgenstern, Christensen and Hammond and representatives Engineer Wilhelm and Attorney Engs of the Proples Water Company, who presented a report of the value of the real estate of the Alameda division of said Company and also of the physical properties constituting the said division and redup1iciting cost, depreciated value and depreciation allowance for the calendar year 1911, which were ordered filed. Alexander Mackie and Green Majors also addressed the Council on the question. A vote was finally taken on the amendment and lost by the following vote:- Ares:Councilmen Christeneen, Morgenstern and Probst 3). Noes: Councilmen Krumb, Hammond, Spence, Ells and Bullock, (5).
