ADJOURNED REUULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA, TUESDAY, JANUARY 14TH, 1913.
The meeting convened with Mayor W. H. Noy, presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Wdlker, MacRae, Hammond, Probst and

Bullock,lwere noted present, and Councilmen Spence, Ells and. Morgenstern, (3),
absent.
Claims against the General Fund amounting to 4517.75; against the Police
Fund amounting to 05.45; against the Fire Fund amounting to 077.61; against
the Park and Playground Fund amounting to 07.30 and against Local Improvement
Fund No. 786 amounting to $.75 having been approved and audited by the proper
officials were read by the Clerk as follows:

Mr. Bullock moved that claims as read be paid, seconded by MacRae, and carried
by the following vote:- Ayes:Councilmen Walker MacRae H : uon, Probst and.
Bullock, (5). Noes:None. Absent:Councilmen Spence, Ells and Morgenstern, (3).
R. Sunde presented a petition for a gratuitous license to peddle a washing
compound. The granting of the application was recommended by the Chief of Police,
and thereupon Mr. Walker moved that the petition be granted, seconded by Mr.
Probst and carried,
A communication was received from Mrs. M.A. Kruger requesting an extension of
time for the work of laying a sidewalk on the west side of Minturn Street, between
Pacific and Lincoln Avenues. Mr. Hammond moved that the request be denied,second-
ed by Mr. Walker and carried by the following vote:- AyesLCouncilmen Walker,
MacRae, Hammond, Probst and Bullock (5), Noes:None. Absent:Councilmen Spence,
Ells and. Morgenstern, (3).
The Police and. Fire Commission presented the semi-annual report of the Fire
Department for the term ending December 31st, 1912. Ordered filed.
The Police and Fire Commission presented the Annual report of the Police
Department for the year ending December 31st1912, , the said report containing cer-
tain recommendations relative to the said Department. Mr. Walker moved that the report
be filed and referred to the Fire, Water and Police Committee, seconded by MR.
Hammond and carried.
A Bill entitled "A Bill for Ordinance No. The Municipal Code of the City
of Alameda, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING, REVISING, CODIFYING AND ENACTING THE GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AND REPEALING ALL GENIEZAL ORDINANCES AND PARTS
OF ORDINANCES OF A GENERAL NATURE NOT HEREIN CONTAINED", etc. introduced by Mr.
Ella at the meeting of November 19th, 1912, and read by the Clerk at the meeting
of December 17th, 1912, came up for passage. Mr. Probst moved that it be adopt-
ed and passed, seconded by Mr. Hammond and carried by the following vote:-Ayes:
Councilmen Walker, MacRae, Hammond, Probst and. Bullock, (5). Noes:None. Absent:
Councilmen Ells, Spence and Morgenstern (3).
Mr. Hammond moved that the Ordinance just passed be published once in the
official paper of the City, seconded bz Councilman Walker and carried by the
following vote:- Ayes:Councilmen Walker, MacRae, Hammond, Probst and Bullock,
(5). Noes:None. Absent:Councilmen Spence, Ells and Morgenstern, (3).
City Attorney St. Sure reported that the tree growing at the southwest
corner of Grand Street and Central Avenue was a menace to the public safety
and recommended that the Street Superintendent be directed to remove the same.
Thereupon Mr. Hammond moved that such be the order of the Connell, seconded by
Mr. Probst and carried,
