1919-12-09 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL HELD TUESDAY EVENING,
DECEMBER 9TH, 1919.
The meeting convened at 8:10 p. m. with Council-president Otis presiding.
The roll was called and. Councilman Adams, Latham Noy, Probst and. President
Otis, (5) were noted present. Absent: None.
1. V An Affidavit showing due mailing of notice of hearing of the protestant in
the matter of the closing of Harrison Avenue was received and ordered filed. The
Clerk re-read the protest filed by Ben F. Lamborn against the proposed closing.
Council-president Otis stated that a public hearing on the matter would now be
heard and asked if there were any present who desired to speak. Mr. Lamborn
addressed the members of the council stating his reasons for opposing the closing.
Messrs. J. A. Powell, F. J. Kendall and. J. E. Hall spoke in favor of the proposed
closing. Mr. Probst moved that the protest be taken under advisement and the
hearing continued to the first meeting of the council in January, 1920, seconded
by Mr. Latham and carried.
The following communications were received:
From the Southern Pacific Company refusing to establish a station at the
corner of High Street and Fernside Boulevard. Mr. Probst moved that the city attorney
take the necessary legal steps to force the Company to erect a station, seconded by
Mr. Latham and carried.
3. V From the city attorney and city manager, recommending that the proposition
submitted by Mulford J. Thompson, as attorney for the hcaris of Wm. G. Chipman
and. Gideon Aughinbaugh, be not accepted. Mr. Probst moved that the recommendation
be adopted, seconded by Mr. Latham and carried.

was laid over to the next meeting of the Council.
In response to an inquiry made to Councilman C. C. Adams as to the address
to w' ich notices should. be sent as per the -revisions of the charter, the
following was given: 2326 Santa Clara Avenue.
City Manager Hewes brought up the matter of the spur track lying in the
easterly end of Encinal Avenue and stated that requests had been made to have the
same removed. Mr. Latham moved that the matter be referred to the city manager and
city attorney with power to act, seconded by Hr. Probst and carried.
There being no further business to transact the council adjourned to meet
ular session Tuesday evening, December 16th, 1919, at 8 o'clock.
