1908-09-11 Regular CC MinutesGB Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Council of the City of Alameda,September 11th 1908. The meeting was called to order by Council President Loop. The roll was called and Councilmen Chri tensen,Bullock,Noy,Gee,Frobst,Fisher and Loop (7),were noted present and Councilmen Brown and Magagnos (2),ahsent. The minutes of the meeting of August 21st were read and ordered approved. The minutes of the meeting of September 4th were read and ordered approved. The Mayor arrived and Mr.Loop resigned the chair in his favor. Councilman Brown arrived and was noted present. Claims against Municipal Improvement Fund No.8,(Electric Light Department) amounting to $3451.80 having been audited and approved by the proper officials were read as follows; MUNICIPAL IhPROVEENT FUND No.8,(Electric Light Dept). Risdon Iron & Loco.Wks, Final payment on boiler $2500.00 Westinghouse E.& M.Co. Supplies 231.60 TT TT 231.60 11 IT 139.35 IT if TT Total 349.25 $3451.80 Mr.Bullock moved that the claims as read be paid,seconded by Mr.Noy and carried by the following vote. Ayes:Councilmen Brown,Christensen,Bullock,Noy,Gee,Probst,Fisher and Loop.(8) . Noes:None. Absent :Councilman Magagnos. (1). A communication was received from Geo.L.Dillman calling attention to the matter of the further improvement of Grand Street. Mr.Probst moved that the matter be referred to the Committee of the Whole,seconded by Mr.Noy and carried.. A communication was received from E.A.Kober thanking the Council for granting per- mission to transfer his license from 1538-42 l'ark Street to 1721 Lincoln Avenue but that as objection had been made to the same that he desired the Council to rescind their action. Mr.Noy moved that the request be granted and that the Council rescind their action,second- ed by Mr.Bullock and carried. Mr.Noy thereupon moved that the application presented at the meeting of September 4th be denied,seconded by Mr.Bullock and carried. A communication was received from Rhodes-Jamieson & Co.,critisind the manner in which contracts for supplying hay to the Fire Department had been let at the last meeting of the Council. Mr.Fisher moved that the same be filed,seconded by Mr.Probst and carried. A communication was received from Delanoy and Randlett agents for the Sather Estate that the property owners on Court Street between Central and Santa Clara Avenues were con- templating the grading,curbing and macadamizing said street and requested that the grade of said street be changed in order to save the trees on the line of the said street. Same was referred to the Committee of the Whole. H.E.Seynour presented a petition for a gratuitous license to sell cider by the glass or in bulk from a movable plant. Mr.Loop moved that it be granted.,seconded by Mr.Bullock and carried. A Bill entitled "A Bill for Ordinance No. To Prohibit the Use of Water for Irri- gation after Fire Alarms.",introduced August 21st 1908 by Mr.Brown,came up for final pas- sage and was read by the Clerk. Mr.Probst moved that it be adopted,seconded by Mr.Gee and passed and adopted by the following vote. Ayes:Councilmen Brown,Christensen,Bullock, Noy,Gee,Probst,Fisher and Loop.(8). Noes:None. Absent :Councilman Magagnos.(1). Mr.Bullock moved that the Council hold a meeting of the Committee of the Whole on Monday,Septenber 14th 1908 at 7.30 P.M.to fix the tax rates.seconded by Mr.Probst 'ii npr_ 74 September llth 1908. Mr.Probst moved, that the Committee on Public Buildings have plans and specifications prepared for the work of repairing the lower part of the City Hall,seconded by Mr.Gee and carried. Mr.Loop moved that the Clerk address a communication to the Southern Pacific Rail- road officials inviting them to have representatives attend the Council Committee meet- ing on Friday evening Septeml.er 18th 1908,seconded by Mr,Fisher and carried. Mr.Probst moved that the Street Superintendent be granted seven days leave of ab- sence,seconded by Mr.Bullock and carried. There being no further businesn to transact the Council adjourned until the next regular meeting,Monday,September 21st 1908 at 7.30 P.M. City Clerk.
